A rum tasted at the Lucerne Gin and Rum Festival 2024. A lively, alcoholic nose with solvents and varnish, but also marzipan, wood and dried fruit. Varnish is present at the start of the palate, followed by dried fruit and nuts, pastry and woodiness. The finish is of medium length, with cedar wood and walnuts. A lively, energetic rum that needs taming to be appreciated. A Foursquare expression unlike any other.

On the Rocks: On the nose there is a definite Spice and Oak with underlying vanilla and caramel but an ever present alcohol and nail polish presence. Taste reveals a moderate spice and oak up front with an oily feel that coats the mouth. The tingle continues into the finish with the spice and oak oily coating with a hint of caramel in the background. It is smoother then it smells as you do not notice the high ABV% that you are expecting. Mixed Pepsi Zero:

Orange and honey candy, beautiful oak spices, chocolate, and menthol. A whiff of all purpose cleaner. Also some yellow fruits like mango, banana, tin pineapples, fruitty bubblegum. Very balanced and vibrant. With such ABV I had to add some water. It takes water well, holds it together, saturates the aromatics and becomes more accessible. In taste and aftertaste I got banana and honey spongecake, lemon zest and mint. Great offering of quality rum.

This Rum I was expecting a hard punch off the get go; however, it was an oily taste that covered your mouth, then came the bitterness with a sweetness. It's alot smoother then it smells or after reading the alcohol content.
