Barbados for falling in love with. Tempting smell with well balanced spices and dried and tropical fruits. The taste is very parallel, round and easy to love. The finish is the weakest point, the aftertaste doesn’t last too long, it’s a bit watery. Anyway, this rum is a safe choice for almost anybody.

A very solid Doorlys with a good price-performance ratio. Toffee and barrel notes are recognizable. There is also a hint of vanilla in the taste and the typical Foursquare taste comes into its own

Foursquare makes high quality rum with flavor so mild it's easily overwhelmed by cask wood. The whole Doorly's line of rums suffers from too much wood at every age, which is really disappointing. I'm done with Doorly's. I won't rebuy.

A rum tasted at the Lucerne Gin and Rum Festival 2024. A nose of dried fruit, yellow fruit, coconut, cookies and marzipan. The palate is smooth, a little diluted, but the peppery spices take over with a nutty edge. Wood and bitterness. The finish is short, with wood, spice and bitterness. A well-made, gourmet entry-level rum.

Great value for money!Nice fruity with the Foursquare typical bite, although a bit lighter and less peppery. Pleasant sweetness, but the sherry cask breaks with it a certain mustiness that becomes a bit too much for me after a certain amount.

Delicious rum at a very good price! Typical Foursquare professionals with caramel, roasted aromas, spices and fruit, but also with an alcoholic note. The 43% makes it rather mild and easy to drink in the mouth. At the same time, the aromas are not particularly intense, so a few % more would be good. Anyway, great for beginners.

05.08.2022 A nice afternoon with other rum geeks and an evening visiting a few bars. Notes Medium dark to dark in colour. Nose Round, lightly sweet, light wood, faint smoke, dried fruit, cherry, light earthy. Palate Round, oily, sweet, light wood, light cherry, spice, light grapes, faint chocolate. Finish Medium long, light wood, sweet, cherry, light roasted, faint coffee, faint smoke, dried fruit.

Rather pleasant nose, sweet, vanilla, easy but engaging. On the palate, the impression is confirmed. Easy to drink and not monolithic. Simple and easy. But not without interest. Very pleasant toasted coconut. Woody vanilla finish. Nice for a first approach to Barbados.

A wonderful expression from Foursquare distillery!! Affordable(30 EUR) , no added sugar or additives(besides the sherry barrel). Very pleasant, easy sipping, surprisingly smooth rum with faint, but noticeable sherry note. This rum for its price is a very good option to experience a classical style of molasses rum.

Ein ganz guter Rum. In der Nase kommen Vanille, Alkohol und Fass zum Vorschein. Im Gaumen hat man dann Vanille, Karamell, Gewürze und Fass. Schmeckt sehr mild, im Gaumen kommt der Alkohol kaum zur Entfaltung.

Very good price for the money. A tasty and very pleasant Foursquare, my first Doorly. I opened this one when sailing in the vicinity of the Egina island in Saronic gulf in Greece trying to find out it’s iconic Aphaia temple.

A nice rum to sip neat. There isn't much of a Sherry influence but there is a hint on the palate. It's easy going with not much to offend. The finish is a tad peppery for my taste.

I just had Doorlys 12 YO prior to XO and I am not sure if I am weird or everyone else, that gives 12 a higher rate, is. I will be 100% honest with you. The maturation after sherry is awesome it gave XO everything that I missed with 12YO. The sweetness, the prominent chocolate/banana taste with oak barrel/wood being suppressed to the background. With 12YO you had banana taste mixed with sour green apple all underlined by huge woody taste. This one is none of that, you get vanilla, 🍌, raisins, chocolate all underlined but not overpowered by wood/oak. For me this one is a winner and I do not care. The nose is very similar but the palate is a different story. Medium to long finish. 75/100 for me. Reaffirmation: I like XO more than 12YO. Next step is comparison with 14YO. Retasting after AM SC 2001 & 2005 and it stands right at 7.5 that is below SC versions of foursquare as they are typical barbados but they are not offering anything special such as single casks do. I still like XO a little bit more than 12 yo though.

Angenehm fruchtig und viel Vanille im Geruch und Geschmack. Die holzigen Noten sind nicht überwältigend was es für mich sehr angenehm macht. Als relativer Anfänger beim Rum ist der Doorly's XO ganz toll für diejenigen die von den üblichen Einsteiger Rums mal weg möchten und was anspruchsvolleres ausprobieren möchten, zumindest für mich.

Somehow not half and nothing whole. The taste is briefly somewhere between liquid toffee and cookie dough. The fruit content is present but not clearly identifiable. My second and last rum from Doorly's. Certainly a good and mild introduction for beginners. But if you're looking for something special, you won't find it here

Blindtasting aus dem Tastillery Adventskalender. Im Geruch erkennt man sofort seine Herkunft aus Barbados. Kokosnuss mit Eichenholz. Im Geschmack dann eine angenehme Holznote mit einem pfeffrigen Stich. Die Kokosnuss merkt man im Mund nicht mehr.

A sweet rum, an easy candy that's pleasant without too much complexity. Not my favorite, but certainly a nice gateway to the world of rum. An appealing nose of slightly ripe fruit. Soft and round on the palate, very pastry-like, the fruit is less present, the alcohol discreet. Pleasant but without much depth, fades quickly.

Very good value for money! Sweet caramel, coconut, vanilla and tropical fruits on the nose. Taste is also sweet but with a semi-dry finish that takes off the ”too sweet” aftertaste. Dried fruits, vanilla and coconut with a well rounded finish.

Not my favorite, but good. Very well rounded nose with more butterscotch than anything else. A mild taste with a finish that really has a lot of brown to it - leather, tobacco, barrel. Should make for good cocktails but probably won't sip this too often

I purchased this rum together with the 12-year version. I like both rums and can't decide which one more. This one has a slight sweetness in the taste and aroma, I think it must be the sherry. Otherwise spice, caramel and light fruit. The taste is mild but warms up thanks to the 43%. There is more tropical fruit in the 12 year old version. Both rums are very good for sipping.

We're at level one = easy going. But still it packs a pretty heavy burnt wood. Awesome for the price and level. Internal rating 1+8. Priority = 4,9 (very good). But here I can only give one score so it lands at a flat 7.

This is a solid rum, as are most from foursquare. Oak, vanilla, and dried fruit on the nose. Smooth with notes of the same, along with spice. The finish lingers for a bit, with a pleasant woody taste. This is an extraordinary sipper for the price. The love for rum started here for me, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking to get started.
