Rum Nation Savanna Small Batch Rare Rums 2007
"Was für eine positive Überraschung," as one member put it — and that's the recurring theme here. This is classic Savanna Grand Arôme: loud esters, nail polish and glue, overripe tropical fruit, olive, and a spicy, woody backbone. At 62.7% the heat is real but most tasters found it well integrated. A drop of water opens up cinnamon, blackcurrant and mango. Only real gripe: several wish the finish ran longer.

Great rum, but a bit below the 2006 Savanna Grand Arome because in my opinion it is less intense. Compared to the 2006, the olive scent is less pronounced and the nose is less complex with more ester/solvent presence. The palate is very balanced and the high alcohol content is well integrated. Very long finish that after several minutes releases olive and lychee/grape aromas. Excellent value for money.

frisch/würzig beerig fruchtig viel Kirsche, lycheee und Zimt und ordentlich menthol und Lack. relativ trocken und würzig, adstringierend im Abgang. der 2020er batch ist aber insgesamt etwas runder. Dennoch ein grandioser Grand Arome mit leichten schwächen im Abgang.

Sehr schöner Rum tolle Esternase. Im Geschmack und Abgang sehr viele holzig-würzige Noten und am meisten Ester von den dreien. Toller Gegenpart zu Ester und Frucht. Für mich die schönste Nase der 3 heute getesteten Savannas.

A nice Savanna here. The nose is driven by black olives, apples and esters, but there are some salty and smoky notes in the background. Drinking the alcool is pretty present, but there is also a nice sweetness, more noticeable than in usual grand arome

Ein schöner fruchtige Duft verbreitet sich. Erinnert an einen Brandy. Eher dunkle Frucht, die Süße von Brombeere und die Säure von getrockneter Johannisbeere. Dumpfe Nuancen von Leder und etwas herbes von Eichenholz. Fruchtig, würzig, voll und toll. Wow, am Gaumen kratzen erst einmal die 62,7%. Die Frucht ist jetzt eher bei säurelastiger Johannisbeere und Sauerkirsche. Salzig bitter kommt er rüber. Etwas künstliches, nicht ganz Plastik nicht ganz Jod schwingt sich ein . Würzig holzig ist er auch noch. Im Abgang bleibt die süß-sauer-bitter-Note voll Johannisbeere und eine Würze in Richtung Anis. Gefällt mir richtig gut.

Nose: Nail polish remover and fermentation (day-old cold cuts). Taste: sweet entry, then a kick of alcohol and esters. Lots of funk and sass.
