Bellevue Kill Devil (The Whisky Barrel) 1998
Surprising how fruity a 20-year-old Bellevue stays: ripe melon, cherry and banana on the nose alongside burnt rubber and dark chocolate. The palate turns dry, smoky and tobacco-heavy, with menthol and dried fruit. Several tasters call it one of the best Bellevues they've had, though a few find the char and bitterness a touch much mid-palate.

- Long smoky finish

Wow, this is a very nice one from Kill Devil. I really admire them because they're whisky makers and they can definitely finish rums as well. I have a huge selection of their rums and most are really good, especially if you look at the price tag.The nose is heavy with lots of fruits, chocolate and rubber. The palate is wonderfully balanced and complex with fruit, oak, caramel ad a lot of smoke, did I mention smoke? A dry and slightly bitter palate but in a god way. The finish is lasting for a very, very long time with a lot of smoke taking you to vanilla, lime and a tad of rubber.

The best Bellevue in my glass so far. Those who like the vintage will find this one very good
Review by crazyforgoodbooze
Amazing how fruity this rum is especially on the nose considering it is 20 years old. Fully ripe melon, juicy cherry, banana and some burnt rubber, dark chocolate on the nose but no trace of wood. Taste then subtly woody , chocolaty, cherry but still fruity and oily fresh after tobacco and menthol as well as various citrus peels and some chocolate. Very complex Bellevue, could only be a little less bitter for my taste. Nevertheless, definitely one of the best Bellevue I had so far in the glass.

Solid Bellevue without the very special touch...

A well done rum with lots of spices such as pepper and baking spices. It’s not too complex but what it does it does well ☺️
