Velier Neisson Cuvée Chai 5 Adrien 2016
The surprise here is how gentle it drinks for 55.8% — young cane juice with honey, almonds and fresh-cut grass, a floral, minty side, and plenty of young oak. Several tasters call it the lightest and most herbal of the three 2016 Neisson single casks. One French reviewer found it "plus feutré," softer and more restrained on fruit than its siblings. A dry, tannic, slightly short finish.

8,6:On the nose, the first impression we get is a fresh, herbaceous sugar cane with tea, spicy and nutty wood, tropical fruits like banana and coconut. On aeration, the cane becomes sweet with honey, flowery, minty, mineral, earthy with tobacco, some hay and sap pop up. The wood is slightly roasted with confectionery and chocolate. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is fresh, sweet, delicious with sugarcane honey, flowery and grassy, fruity with citrus like grapefruit, peaches, later banana and woody with nuts, confectionery, spicy with vanilla, after resting the rum resinous, tannic, the cane becomes herbaceous, some tea is there, also licorice. 8,4:The finish is long, dry and tannic, spicy, the cane is earthy, grassy, floral, paired with banana, coconut and citrus, crispy confectionery, darker notes like dark chocolate, leather and licorice... Edit:10.10.25, oxidation helps rounding the rum, 0.1 upgrade

In the nose furniture polish, almonds, cookie part. A great plastic note in the mouth. Great, tingly finish, which is unfortunately a bit short. Very drinkable Neisson, but not upper league. Doesn't get that latte.

Very inviting and pleasant nose. Baked apple and almonds come to mind. On the palate, a nice combination of spice, citrus and young wood. I like it much better than the "Vevert".

This is also an older tasting. Price to quality is very good on this one as well. Lightly fruity and the floral notes are far lighter. The palate is lightly dry but delicious. The empty glass is really nice and I can pick up some licorice and herbal notes.

A good little Neisson, the nose is pleasant with the sweetness of honey, pastries and some dried fruit. The palate is a little more fruity and vegetal. The finish is short, too bad.

Vergleich zwischen den drei Neisson 2016 Chai 4yr. Cask #5 Die hellste Farbe deutet schon an, dass dieser Rhum.der mit den hellsten und kräutigsten Noten ist. Dem ist auch so. Viel junges Holz, Gras und Pflanzen, Blumen und Politur. 73 Punkte Cask #2 Der farblich Dunkelste von allen Dreien. Am Gaumen deutlich wärmer, voller und adstringenter als seine Brüder. Rote Früchte, Tabak, Leder und Holz. Herrlich langer warmer Abgang. 84 Punkte Cask #4 Der Fruchtigste des Dreiergestirns mit einer interessanten grasigen karamell-zitrus Note im Abgang. Leichr bitter, liegt in seinem Aromenspektrum irgendwo zwischen dem Grasigen und dem Ledrigen. 75 Punkte
