Aroma visualization from community tastings
Montebello Rhum Vieux 6 ans
One taster called it "one of the best ti vieux," and that captures the mood: lots of fresh sugarcane and grass up front, green apple and lime, then it turns woody and oily on the palate with leather, anise and a little pepper. A 6-year Guadeloupe agricole that's clear and easy-going. The recurring wish among members is more power — at 42% it can read a touch thin.

#6154 30.12.2025 Got home from my last workday and what a day. I was able to close all my open cases so nothing would be dropped on my colleagues. Nose Wood, light roasted, olive, fruits, light smoke, light plum ginger, dried fruit. Palate Oily, light wood, olive, salt, sugarcane, medium intense, light citrus, mango, faint leather, anise, peppery. Finish Long, oily, light wood, sugarcane, berries, anise, light caramel, salt. Empty glass Berries, licorice, sugarcane, light mango, raisin.

Alkoholischer Abgang.

Restrained on the nose, a bit weak on the chest. Herbal with grassy, some freshness of apple and citrus. But then again spicy-sweet from leather and sugar cane.Quite clear on the palate: woody-sweet sugar cane, anise and grassy herbs.Still sugar cane, anise and herbs in not too long finish.Nice, clearly structured and not exhausting. Bit more % would be better.

A light nose, a little buttery, on the cane, with lime quite present. Flashes of indus banana, peach in syrup, orange that I can't find afterwards. Nice sweetness on the palate and a tangy finish. A very nice Guadeloupean (a little more power would be welcome) for a great price.

Now a Montebello Rhum. I don't like it quite as much, it already smells very much of herbs and grass. The taste is also very fresh and herbs dominate. I also find it a little oily on the finish.

Review by Steph Genlee

Review by Surcoup Jean
