Review by Joachim Guger
It's not often that I get to taste a rum from the year I was born. Today is the day again 😀😀😀😀 Very deep, full nose, somehow old without me being able to describe it exactly. Varnish, dried fruit, vanilla. Spicy and nutty. Warm, powerful and balanced. If you take a good sniff, sour cherries appear. Esters? No, not here. 🤩🤩🤩 Dusty, woody and spicy in the mouth. Very slightly watery, but this could also be due to the age of the sample. Long, woody finish. The highlight is certainly this old, venerable nose, really beautiful. 30 years of ageing were perfect here. A great rum that I would like to have more of for a leisurely drink.

14. 03.2010 at the Devil's Share in Shanghai. A very nice cocktail bar in prime location. Notes. Beautiful dark colour. Nose: Intense wood, earthy, fresh, banana. Palate: light, wood, dried fruit. Finish: medium long, wood, thin, earthy

The nose is outstanding! Very intense, lots of wood, tobacco, light sherry notes. Unfortunately, the palate cannot quite keep up with the nose. It lacks some depth and complexity due to the dilution.

This is truly excellent. I would say this comes close to the best rum I have tried. It’s pure marzipan and total smoothness and roundness. I wish I had plenty more!
