Velier Foursquare Destino Richard Seale 2003
Near-universal love here, with a small dissent worth hearing: most tasters call this the best Foursquare they've had, all raisin, coconut, dark chocolate, oak and spice at a hefty 61%. The Madeira-cask influence sits there without taking over. A couple of drinkers still felt it was very good rather than the great rum they'd hoped for.
The community says- Dark chocolate depth
- Well-integrated wood
- Alcohol perfectly balanced

How does Velier Foursquare Destino Richard Seale 2003 taste?
Aggregated from 42 community reviews.
Rich, chocolatey top-tier Foursquare sipper Widely rated the peak of the Foursquare range — dried fruit, chocolate, spice and beautifully integrated wood. A few felt it's excellent but not quite the leap they expected.

To this day, the most impressive testament to the quality Foursquare is capable of producing. The aging in former Madeira casks adds a perfect flavor complement to the usual Foursquare profile full of coconut, oak, caramel, dark chocolate, allspice, tobacco, and pushes the Destino to the top of the other Foursquare bottlings. Excellent.

19.07.2025 Retasting at the Nordlichter Treffen. ----------------- Wow, this is probably how close you can get to a perfect rum. From opening the sample bottle the flavours just come oozing out. The Madeira Cask is there without being too dominant. Fruity with spices and the perfect amount of wood. I'd really like a bottle but they're very hard to find now.

It's very good but it's not the great rum I was hoping for

This has all the same things you will find in just about every decent expression from Foursquare. A nose that is light and delicate but which contains the wood, raisin, vanilla burner sugar and spice notes. On the palate, it is sweet, caramel, spice, raisin, a lovely complementary wood note, vanilla and again, the standout is the delicate and balanced nature. This is a Foursquare, but one at its very best. A wonderful expression that is truly harmonious. I am not sure the distillery can top this and I understand the hype.

In the nose, no doubt, we are at Foursqaure. The solvents and coconut are omnipresent but we find notes of almonds, tobacco, fruits (banana-orange), the nose is rather promising and we know that there are watts behind all that! It is fruity/concentrated as we wish, we want to dive into it! The attack is rather alcoholic, but the rest is only greediness ... Indeed, the middle of the mouth pulls on tropical fruits, and the more time passes and the more it is fun and pleasant. We are in front of a fruit cake, with beautiful red fruits in pagailles. The whole sprinkled with spices. The finish is rather long on the fruits coated with a nice woody and chocolate notes. No doubt, this is the best Foursquare I've had the chance to taste so far!

Nordlichter Treffen 07/25: In der Nase fruchtig kräftig, Holz ein Anflug von Lack. Sehr interessant.

Man kann also safe sagen: Es gibt keinen besseren Foursquare.

Nordlichter Treffen 19. Juli 2025 Schöne volle Nase, Trockenfrüchte, etwas Sherry, dunkle Schokolade, vielleicht mit Einschluss von etwas roten Früchten. Im Mund extrem vollmundig. Anfangs ein paar Tannine, holzig-würzig, etwas verhaltenere Frucht. Sehr lecker!

very similar to the Destino but even a bit more balanced and smoother, slightly more complex and very round. Finish might be longer definitely, but overall the difference if at all is not worth the price tag

Lunga fermentazione, uso magistrale dei legni , wow

28e at the bar ... Foursquare is a distillery from Barbados producing amazing rums for everyday sipping. It's a rum that will be appreciated especially by Romanians who are fed up with sugar and looking for a smooth, sweet rum full of coconut, vanilla, chocolate and caramel. Just pleasant and not aggressive flavours.
Review by Mathieu Bgd
Wow, a slap in the face! A touch of alcohol, cognac and menthol too. You can feel the work done on the blend. There's a strong, pronounced attack that gives way to a very pleasant sweetness, and finally a long finish that gives way to a very soft finish. It's a real treat, each sip calling for another. I love it!

Für mich perfekte Intensität und sehr schönes Mundgefühl. Blind fast mit einem 94er NY zu verwechseln. In Summe ein klasse Rum, aber für den Preis gibt es viele wesentlich bessere Alternativen.

Probably the best Foursquare I had in my mouth. Full of coconut, spiceys, wood, raisins, vanilla, herbs.. excellent rum.
