Foursquare ECS VII Dominus 2008
Best sipped neat with a drop of water to tame the 56%. Expect the classic Foursquare setup — vanilla, toffee, coconut — pushed toward dark, dry territory by the cognac cask: raisins, oak, tannins and a "buttered toast, espresso" morning feel. Several tasters find the cognac finish a touch heavy-handed and the raisins dominant. Balanced but on the dry, woody side.
The community says- Rich raisin & toffee
- Long finish
- Cognac can dominate

How does Foursquare ECS VII Dominus 2008 taste?
Aggregated from 89 community reviews.
Dry, woody cognac-cask Foursquare sipper Well-liked cask-strength Foursquare, strong but balanced. The cognac cask adds welcome raisin and wood, though a few feel it's too dominant and dry, and not their favorite ECS.

One of the proofs that the Exceptional Cask Series offers really impressive quality for the price called. Great melange of toffee and vanilla notes meeting dried fruit and tart wood and spice flavors. Great Release.

A classic FOURSQUARE. The nose immediately takes you to Barbados – typical notes of citrus, coconut, and fully ripe mango. On the palate, quite alcoholic (could be better integrated) and lots of wood. Brings joy.

12.10.2024 retasting and I still like it a lot. Love the fresh and fruity nose. ----------------- Nicely spiced rum in near perfect balance. Being finished on cognac casks has done wonders for this one. Very good rum at the price tag.

Stable dry and spicy heavy foursquare!💯 The cognac barrel is definitely noticeable here with extra wood tones and tannins. Not necessarily my favorite Foursquare, but still delicious.

3. GAF Stuttgart A Foursquare I've wanted to try for a long time. Discovered at the Catawiki booth and took the chance right away. As with 99% of ECS bottlings, high quality, but unfortunately no standout.

German Rum Festival 2025, Berlin. A nose not very expressive on the fruits, rather woody, dark, with a hint of acetone and light varnish. The palate is fruitier, with raisins and coconut along with vanilla wood and raisins. The finish is long, sweet, and woody. The cognac cask finish is obvious. Is it positive? That depends on personal taste. For me, it is too pronounced.

Classic Foursquare profile on the nose with coconut, lightly caramelised sugar and wood. “Breakfast on a Sunday” notes: buttered toast, vanilla sugar, espresso coffee. Slight blackberry influence as well as apple orchard. The ex-cognac definitely had some influence. Lovely raisin, mandarin and dried apricot synergy with oily peels and a splash of short-steeped cinnamon tea. Heavy and dry experience on the palate, where the cognac influence is (a little too) in charge. Raisins overpower most of the other flavours with tannins, fructose and a hint of licorice. Finish is medium in length, sweet and parching. The cognac is again quite present with raisins, licorice and tannins.
