Blackadder Hampden Raw Cask Rum LROK 2000

Sipped neat, this Hampden LROK drinks softer than its 56% suggests — tasters keep noting how the alcohol nearly disappears in the glass. Expect esters and glue up front, overripe banana and pineapple, then charred wood, smoke and a bit of leather. One member called the palate "cremig weich" (creamy soft), rounding out a medium-dry, slightly bitter woody finish. Drink it fresh; several say the fruit fades to wood if it sits.

The community says
  • Overripe fruit esters
  • Deceptively soft ABV
  • But: Wood can dominate

That's where the action is. One of the best LROK I've ever had. Correct nevertheless after eight months my rating from 87 to 86.

Tasting evening at Dr. Django (Jamaica): The Black Adder shows quite a bit of power, although it doesn't have such a high ABV. Very classic Hampden essence on the nose, perfect drinking strength on the palate, creamy and smooth, then presenting a full range of aromas. The finish is of medium length. A great bottling.

See good Hampden. Classic almonds, butyric acid. Great Hampden and the bits of ash in the bottle have flair too.

Nose Fruity mango, annas, papaya some banana.... slight glue note and minimal wood. Alcohol almost not noticeable even when the nose is deep in the glass 😅. On the palate -->immediately spreads fruity and ne Kannte wood (slightly bitter) .... fills despite the lower ABV the Mundrum beautiful . Finish is then rather bitter and woody but not disturbing . Beautiful LROK in great quality.

8,7:On the nose, esters and glue, roasted wood with bacon, leather, smoky, spicy with allspice, overripe tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, fermented, fresh, mineral, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the molasses is flowery, herbaceous, grassy with hay, dark with black tea, licorice. 9:On the palate, the attack is delicious, intense, medicinal with esters, glue, yet full bodied, round, sweet with honey, fruity with overripe tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, red fruits, the wood is charred, burnt with bacon, sweet, caramelized, confectionery, smoky, spicy with allspice, anise, umami, as the molasses is dark with licorice. 8,8:The finish is medium long, dry and tannic, medicinal with esters, phenol, slightly dirty with toasted, smoky wood notes like bbq, mocha, dark chocolate, caramelized, marzipan, the molasses is dark with black tea and fruits tropical, citrus, marmelade like. 01.11.2019 Den Dansk Rom & Whiskyfestival This was my first visit to this two day event, where everything is included in the ticket. Also the first event where I have seen so many extremely drunk people. This event usually just has what's considered mainstream products, but luckily my friend had the right contacts so for a premium we had our own little collection to go through. Today I get free a free ticket if I want to attend 😊 This is a great rum. Medium intense with very nice fruit and esters. Palate is well balanced and medium dry with nice fruits. Made a note that I liked the smoky note and that I got the glass with most tiny wood pieces.

Gleich geht's weiter mit der Tour de France, hoffentlich heute eine etwas spannender Etappe. Hier ein wirklich guter Hampden, Ester wieder erkennbar und die überreifen tropischen Früchte Banane und Ananas sowie Klebstoff.

Tasted at the incredible Rum Bar Room in Tokyo (September 2024). I asked for a Hampden for my second tasting and this was the selection/recommendation from the kind and knowledgeable bartender and owner. A very nice Hampden and a great LROK. All the classic notes - esters, fruit, balanced nicely with wood and smokey, leathery notes.

A real bomb. Very complex ester and lovely . A lot going on without being overwhelming. I am quite happy with the rawcask bits. But it is not as good as I remember it. Really top of the lrok line though
