To my mind the best of the range from Velier here. Nose is a little overripe, complex with some musty and leather notes. Mouth brings immediately glue and esters, then a honey sweet sickly mango explosion of tropical fruit and a soft meander towards spice and balanced brown sugar. The finish is long and lingering, with meat and some fruity anise. Good if not excellent rum, need to be in the mood for sure with this one.

Having a morning sipper while getting ready for the "Nordlichter" meeting later today 😊 Still a pretty solid rum. ---------------- Nose Wood, ester, mint, light burnt, rubber, pineapple, banana, light medicinal. Palate Oily, ester, wood, light roasted, varnish, medicinal, pineapple, banana, acetone. Finish Long and warm, fruity, ester, citrus, medicinal, light glue.

Very similar to TECA, but inferior as a result of an overly pungent herbaceous note. That said, it is a great distillate where the alcohol is excellently integrated. Nail polish, esters, glue, solvents accompanied by toastiness, peanuts, wood, light pineapple and perhaps pastry (less pronounced than TECA). What amazes me about these Long Ponds is the fact that the solvent part does not come across as pungent or annoying, but rather is perfectly balanced and integrated. Let's hope for more future bottlings! I love the English style because it churns out strong rums!

More ester is hardly possible. This rum is so intense that it lingers on the palate for hours afterwards. Definitely not a rum for every day. I always enjoy it, although there are more balanced rums from Long Pond.

wow. full load of nail polish and overripe, almost rotten, extremely sweet pineapple, a slight tendency towards vinegar and fermented fruit in general. The taste is really like extremely fermented pineapple juice, just before it turns into vinegar, with lots of glue and compost notes, almost undrinkable but somehow also cool in a perverse way🤣 partly it also reminds of caraway, and sour pickles🙈 in the finish then more and more vinegar, and sour grapefruit and old banana and pineapple. Overall totally umami and an absolute taste explosion⚡ but you really have to be in the mood for it🤣 🥒🍍🥓🇯🇲

The full load of esters in the nose: glue, solvent, marzipan, pineapple... some barrel and spice...wow On the palate, a strong astringent acidic note and, if I may say so, a taste of marijuana (even after several sips I stick with it and no, I'm clean ;-) )! This is followed by passion fruit and citrus fruits, which then turn into a woody note...and some aniseed. The finish is long, woody and dry... a very unusual and complex rum... it really picked me up Edit: At Mirco's blind tasting TECA/TECC in the glass again...and I'm still thrilled. Good that I still have reserves of the NRJ bottlings 😎

Bombastic on the nose with lots of esters and glue with tropical fruit notes. Very thick sensation on the nose. Very intense esters on the palate as well. Very fruity with wood and glue. While powerful this bottling is very well balanced and enjoyable.

Online tasting of various TECA and TECC organized by Mirco. First of all, many thanks for the great split to be able to try them all side by side. Now I had to readjust a few ratings. After this rum had a lot of advance praise, I still have to say that the sour note is a little unpleasant for me. A great Long Pond, but this little off-note spoils a better score, unfortunately. The alcohol is well integrated and the finish is still great.

Glue and solvents first embellish the nose.then very ripe fruits, banana.funky as you wish.on the palate, wow, it rips. Glue, esters, solvent, cane, wood, ripe fruits. it's rich.the progression in mouth is top. We go from spicy to fruity to sweet. This sensation! Great.The finish brings heaviness. Smokiness, iodine. A side of barbecued beef :)And this rum is of an interminable length.My number one.

#8 RumXHighE(a)ster weeks: Blind tasting: Jamaica i think i already had this in glass, it‘s from Long Pond for sure. I think it‘s the TECA 2003 approx 17. years of aging approx. 60% High ester Result: What an ester, glue bomb. Smells like you have openend 10 tubes of UHU. Very cool combinations with fruits. A high impact of overripe fruits, smashed bananas and a splash of citrus. The alcohol and barrel is integrated good. I enjoyed this one a lot Update: Still one of the best LP ever

What a device. Certainly one of the highlights of the series for me. Pure esterwucht but very complex. Not suitable for every day. Right grenade the thing. Now off to the Mai Tai with it (he was outstanding).

Again, a real uber-rum with a phenomenal aroma fireworks! Everlasting finish. For me, however, it is a bit too astringent and therefore does not quite come up to the outstanding quality of the TECAs.

E(a)sterweeks 2022 - Day 8Blind I had confused it with the TECA. Rating remains unchanged.Krasses stuff! What a nose!Goes very in the direction of glue and solvents but also very fruity. But incredibly complex.Palate: full load of esters and tropical fruits. But again, there are always new flavors behind the wall of glue. The 62.5% is not noticeable. In sum, too heavy for everyday enjoyment but an impressive demonstration of what is possible!The finish mirrors the flavors of nose and palate with the emphasis on barrel and chocolate.What a rum! Kudos to Luca Gargano for demonstrating the Long Pond Marks in this series of bottlings.

The big Jamaican funk high ester and fruit bomb. At the beginning the solvent takes a lot of space then it lets pass a big basket of ripe exotic fruits, which explode in mouth with a nice acidity. In the background the pleasant pastry almond. In the end it's a big slap, but that not everyone will like. Personally I find it a bit too "white spirit" to be an excellent rum.

Solvents and nail polish dominate the nose, followed by glue, esters and tropical fruits. Fruits. After some time in the glass (1.5-2 hours) trop. Fruits and esters come to the fore. Very intense and astringent on the palate with glue, nail polish, tropical fruits and esters. Fruits and esters. Super intense and exciting rum, but certainly not a daily sipper.

Rum x Easter 24.4.22: Was also at Long Pond. It's not that distinct on my palate. From the nose to the finish, I got a relatively strong gummy taste. The empty glass tastes like isostar powder. In the mouth still comes a strong acidity and citrus.Good rum, but I am bothered by the strong acidity. Edit: citrus acid remains too present for me

Nose is top and the finish also very tasty and complex. In the Antrunk on tongue and palate me a little too acid-heavy and the Edter a little too aggressive in relation to the associated taste. But that turns in the back as said for the better.

Probably the best Long Pond I've ever tasted. An exceptional aromatic power in the nose, whether it is for the famous notes of esters, glue, solvent and varnish, the pastry flavors, the very tasty fruity side or the light spices, it is an olfactory delight. On the palate, we find a funky, powerful, intense, complex rum, but above all of an extreme roundness and elegance, carried by the esters and the glue, the ripe tropical fruits and the spicy and woody notes. The rum is also very dry, the tannins make themselves felt, but it is not unpleasant. The finish, of great length, continues on the same framework with smoky notes, almost meat, leather and chocolate. A greedy, aromatic and simply incredible rum.

Great and promising nose, a shock on the palate, not my rum at all. Addendum: Today, the 2007 TECA, 2005 TECA, and 2007 TECC. My second attempt to approach the 2007 TECC, and this time I'm quite enthusiastic. In character, it is similar to the two TECAs, but the slightly musty herbal notes make it even more interesting to me.

One hell of a rum! Definitely not an everyday sipper, but something that you won’t forget. It really requires dedication (and whole lotta of guts) to fully appreciate it..but it’s a worthy experience if you love hogo and Jamaican funkiness. Goes more in the direction of red fruit, blackberry. Extremely astringent in the finish and woody what comes through in the taste almost not at all. With personally too extremely overripe and fermented on the nose, but the taste is delicious.

In fact pure one of my favorites... also compared to the top Hampdens. More fruit, complexity and glue, but little pastry and marzipanFind I pure actually great. Just for the first time (in conjunction with my high end counterpart: skeleton 2000) in May Tai, and there it was interesting but not delicious. Great fruit flavors reminiscent of dissolved sherbet, a nice barrel influence and additional notes of meat, leather and chocolate on the finish. Sounds funny? It kind of is. Nix for every (day), but I find the class!

Výborný Long Pond, napodruhé o kousek zvedám hodnocení. Vůně klasicky esterově-ovocná, velmi příjemná, s troškou vanilky. Chuť nekompromisní, přezrálé ovoce, lak na parkety, delikátní. Určitě není pro každého, ale pokročilejší rumař by měl vyzkoušet.

Class Jamaican! In the nose a blast, incredibly complex and delicious that I do not want to stop smelling. Also in the taste very tasty, a slight medicinal note, which I can not identify more precisely, bothers me a bit. Nevertheless, a bomb bottlings!

This one is delicious, strongest of the series. The full overripe fruit parade is joined buttermilk. Wood and chocolate notes also join in creating a great ensemble. This one is a bit more balanced and smooth than the others. Lastly, it does have this sort of herbal note all the time that you gotta enjoy I guess.

Somehow the most balanced of the treesome today. At first it’s very chemical in the nose, after a while it becomes a bit more civilized 😅 It’s mostly acidic esters and there’s quite a bit astringency going on for my palate today. I’m not sure my Tagesform was really in check with this trio today.

Derniere dégustation des National Rums of Jamaica. Faite place au fameux, que dis-je, à l'unique TECC 2007, 11 ans à subir le climat tropical en fût avant d'être mis en bouteille. Le seul TECC à ce jour qui a connu un vieillissement de plusieurs années. C'est partie pour une expérience sensorielle de folie ! 👃 Oui monsieur! Toute la barraque est condamnée 🤯 Esters à leur paroxysme, beaucoup de colle à maquette, vernis Warhammer, solvants... Mais surtout des embruns, du poisson fumé et salé, poisson thaï à la sauce sucrée/salée, salaisons de boeuf séché, un peu d'olive et de saumure, note vanillée séchée. Dingue. Oui il y a aussi les sempiternels fruits tropicaux beaucoup trop mûrs ici, je pense à l'ananas Victoria, la banane flambée, le jacquier, un peu de mangue pourrie au soleil. C'est sale, puissant, complexe. J'adore. 😋 Pouah ! Le système trigéminal est complètement déboussolé 🤪 Les esters sont tellement hauts qu'on arrive à des sensations de chaleur intense, brûlure, iode, fermentation longue de fruits pourris (jacquier au soleil sur les chemins de randonnée mahorais), ananas piquants. Et pourtant, la sensation alcoolique est incroyable. Beaucoup d'épices de cuisine asiatique, umami, cube or, sel à profusion. C'est extrême, certes, mais aussi merveilleusement équilibré (pour un Ovni de ce genre!). ⛳ Extrêmement longue, chaude, pimentée, amère, encore très trigéminale. Les fruits surmûris, les épices vives. C'est comme si on avait mélangé des salaisons de viande et du poisson fumé à une sauce de fruits tropicaux mûrs avec des épices de cuisine asiatique (umami, piment, sel exotique). 💡 Unique dans son genre, ce NRJ est hyper concentré et puissant, et pourtant avec un certain équilibre après une longue aération (ici 1h30 dans le verre). Ce n'est décidément pas un rhum de tous les jours, mais quand c'est le jour, bordel, ça décoiffe 🏆

🥃 Velier – Long Pond TECC 2007 – 62.5% Un rhum vieilli 11 ans en climat tropical avec une charge d’esters démentielle (1 500 – 1 700 g/hlap), classé parmi les “Continental Flavoured”. Nez : Un gros kick de solvant, colle, et fruits tropicaux bien mûrs. Bouche : Une bombe d’esters, vive acidité, épices, bois, et une touche fumée/viande. Finale : Longue, sèche, complexe, un brin astringente. C’est du concentré d’esters ! Très intense, pas forcément pour tous les jours, mais sacrément jouissif pour les amateurs.

La claque était assurée, et on l’a prise. Des esters, du vernis à ongle, des notes de fruits exotiques bien sûr mais surtout de beaux agrumes et une acidité qui soutient toute la structure, et dure à l’infini. Petit bonus sur un fond de cuir et une note médicamenteuse en fond. Difficile de boire autre chose après, parce qu’on peut pas.. et qu’on a rien envie d’autre !

Eine Legende unter den Long Pond Abfüllungen. Sehr intensiv. Sehr komplex. Viel Zitrusfrüchte mit viel Ester und getoastetem Holz. Das macht richtig Spaß. Alkohol perfekt eingebunden. High Ester wie man sich ihn wünscht. Das macht Spaß. Sehr lecker.
