Whisky & Rhum Port Mourant L'Esprit 2005
"A Port Mourant that doesn't play it safe," as one taster put it — and that's the story here. The nose is the crowd-pleaser: pineapple, citrus, apple and pear with a floral edge, plus that classic PM iodine. The palate turns rougher — woody, spicy with pepper and anise, and a clear metallic, briny streak. At 60.1% the alcohol is still lively and could sit better. Most agree the nose beats the mouth, but they like it all the same.
The community says- Bright fruity nose
- Classic PM spice
- But: Metallic palate

Nose: spicy-fruity, dried and slightly sulfured apricot. But also a citrus freshness. Cherry and a muted sweetness as of honeycomb. There's also some nice floral and vanilla.Palate: intense and powerful. No more fruitiness and floral. Bitter salty woody. And something metallic. Iodine. The spiciness goes possibly in the direction of cardamom.Finish: woody bitter, some herbsI like the nose better than the taste, but overall it pleases.

Great, fresh and tangy PM. Personally, a tad too much citrus.
