It’s a blend of three-to-four-year old rum aged in American oak bourbon barrels It’s quite young and that’s noticeable when it’s coming to the deep in the rum and the powerfulness. Overall I’m getting a little of a whisky feeling, but that’s not bad. I think it’s quite good for being so young.

There is no doubt that this was finished aiming a bit for a bourbon/whisky lover. Fruity and fresh with smoky wood. Definitely a rum for whisky lovers. For the price a very good rum.

RumX Advent calendar, 15.12., blind: First impression: Agricole, quite clear, but was very diluted. I'm not going to like it. That's how it actually is. I had already tasted it at the Agricole tasting, 10th GRF, Berlin. There: "It's nothing at all, diluted, tastes artificially flavored... Not for the feint-hearted" Nose: freshly squeezed apple juice at the very beginning, slightly perfumed, dusty dry, old wooden floorboards, but also a slight sweetness with tangerine, vanilla and tobacco. Palate: thin and watered down, some sweet licorice. Slightly tart, herbal, freshly cut branches, watered down sugar syrup. Caraway, cap and aniseed on the finish. Old right flat. A great pity.

RumXmas #15, blind: Very first scent reminded me of Barbados (vanilla, bourbon), but then the agricole profile opened up with the fresh, grassy en vegetal notes. Alcohol is either not that high or integrated very well, but I would guess around 45%. Bittersweet woody finish. Said it before, so why not again: Saint-James? 😜 Feels a bit watered down, but a nice starter agricole. I think it would make a nice addition in a Mai Tai.

#14 RumXCalendar Blind tasting: Nose: agricole, grass, sugarcane, earthy, roasted M: earty, grass, agricole, floral, roasted, nutty, soft, vanilla F: oak, vanilla, tannins, soft Prediction: this one is for sure a agricole (maybe saint james or depaz)! approx. 45%, 5- 10years…. Very soft (watered down, maybe) rum. Pleasant to drink Alcohol is intergrated very well. Nose: sugarcane, vanilla, grass, roasted, vegetal, agricole, sweet, woody Mouth: Dry, soft, light, grass, agricole, earthy, roasted, smoky, vanilla, oak, caramel Finish: short, dry, light, minty, fresh, oak, smoky, nutty, tannins

Too much reduction resulted in a very watery agricole. A little wood, vanilla and vegetable both in nose and mouth. Not really great.
