Saint James Cœur de chauffe
Fresh grass, sugarcane and a peppery kick, with light citrus and a whiff of solvent — this is a pot-still white agricole bottled at a bracing 60%. Several tasters find it too fierce to sip young (one describes chewing on cane roots), but nearly everyone agrees it shines in a Ti Punch. Give it air and it softens into deep red-berry notes.

Aggregated from 56 community reviews.
Fierce white agricole, brilliant in Ti Punch Divisive neat — the 60% pepper hits hard — but a favorite for Ti Punch and Mai Tai. A few say it opens up beautifully after some air or resting time.

28.03.2022 Sampling a bit at home. Notes Transparent in colour. Nose Fresh and intense, floral, light citrus, berries, light sugarcane. Palate Intense, sugarcane, berries, light citrus, medium dry, medium spicy, light floral. Finish Long and warm, spicy, sugarcane, light citrus, light floral. Extra note. Need to rest for a good while to settle and release all its flavours.

Pure for me no pleasure, but brilliant in Ti'Punch. There I like it even better than the HSE 55, which was otherwise my "standard" in terms of unripe Agricoles.

One of my favorite whites. The sugarcane flavor is obviously dominant. In value for money it is definitely one of the best white rums!

Very good in ti-punch but really pure. A success.

A fruity smell of sugar cane, grass, typical Agricole, some honey. In the taste rather surprisingly little sugar cane, some pepper, slightly fruity.A very tasty Agricole.

After a rousing review by thelonecaner bought this pot still agricole. Was initially too violent for me, esp. the earthy aromas that made me think the sugar cane roots to chew - an impression that has become much weaker over three quarters of a year. Alcohol is well integrated, but 60% brings a certain sharpness. In the meantime I appreciate it, especially in Ti Punch with only a little lime it develops a deep red berryiness. The is also my secret ingredient in the Mai Tai.

This Saint James at ABV 60% made from cane juice is not distilled in an column still as most of their produced rum, instead it’s double distilled in copper pot stills. So because of that it’s an Agricole without being an AOC rum. It makes a good Ti Punch.
