Bielle Le Vieil Oublié 2001
Anyone chasing well-aged agricole with a real oak imprint will click with this Bielle. Sixteen years have softened it into something round and rich for a cane-juice rum — candied yellow fruit, coffee, bitter chocolate, wood and a rubbery note on the nose that tasters found more interesting than off-putting. One reviewer called it "un nez plein de caoutchouc" but not unpleasant. Complex, long, honeyed.

Another nice surprise when tasting this one at a rum event in Copenhagen. The nose is wonderfully fruity with some coffee and a tail of wood. The palate is nice and complex while well balanced between alcohol and fruit and spices. In the back i get some wood and nuttyness. The finish is long and fruity with some vanilla and wood.

Excellent rhum. Riche et complexe. Belle longueur.

Nose full of rubber, but not unpleasant at all. The palate follows the nose with an impressive roundness for an agricultural wine. Very different from other Bielles, better than most in fact. It's good but doesn't give me enough desire to buy the bottle. Nevertheless, I enjoyed it very much for its uniqueness.
