Our Rum & Spirits Diamond Guyana 2003

Dark, chewy wood and leather up front, with roasted nuts, caramel and a fresh citrus-and-berry lift that surprises a few tasters. This is a 63.7% Diamond column-still from 2003, and at that strength the alcohol shows real bite. One member calls it "semi sweet with low Diamond profile" — enjoyable and clean, but most agree it's an honest, straightforward Guyana rather than a deep or thrilling one.

The community says
  • Dark wood and roast
  • Fresh citrus fruit

How does Our Rum & Spirits Diamond Guyana 2003 taste?

Aggregated from 29 community reviews.

Sturdy, high-proof Guyana with a hot edge Most find it a good, sturdy Guyana with solid value — dark wood, roast and bright fruit. The recurring gripe: the high-proof alcohol runs a bit hot and the profile stays simple.

Perfect for

Fans of dark, woody Guyana rum who don't mind cask-strength heat

Less suitable for

Anyone wanting a soft, low-proof sipper or great depth and complexity

Very pleasant nose. But a little too alcoholic on the palate. Nevertheless, a very good Guyana rum!

Very different from the 12y old one from our rum & spirits. Unfortunately, it doesn't appeal to me so much... Alcohol is unfortunately very concise and dominant.

A nice Rum, surprising me. Unfortunately it is not clear what Mark was used, it is noted as column still, but the result is quite intense with flavours and smooth at the same time. There may be a bit added sugar, but I am not sure. Quite balanced (at least to me), but I also gave this a long time to breathe. Very fruity and not much bitterness.

In comparison today, the two bottlings from Our Rum&Spirits. Both from Guyana from 2003. In conclusion, I have to say that I like the one aged 1 year longer a lot better. The younger one seems more unbalanced. Both are okay. But unfortunately not top class for me.

Slightly weaker compared to the RX1891. I miss the fruit flavors on the palate. The finish is also much shorter. Nonetheless, a great PLV which is unfortunately hard to find in new bottlings. I started way too late to get great rums at affordable prices.
