Neisson 1995 Joint Velier

Extremely tasty Neisson, very balanced, round and sweet: coffee, nougat, cocoa, wood, spices, dried fruits, vegetal notes...has everything that makes an excellent Agricole Rhum, in just perfect balance.

A beautiful unicorn from Neisson. The nose puts on a fine show, with toffee, honey, cake and cookie notes offering very charming pastry aromas. Notes of candied and dried fruit, noble wood, sweet spices, leather and herbs embellish a very elegant, gourmand and delicate profile, far removed from the earthy, grassy sides of classic agricultural rums. On the palate, vegetal notes become more pronounced, with flavors of herbs and tea. Spices and leather take over, before a caramelized sweetness envelops the palate. A slight roast flavor is also felt. Very round and fine on the palate. The aromas are balanced. The finish returns more to the nose, with gourmand notes of toffee, vanilla and honey. Wood and coffee follow, providing a very homogenous, rich finish. If the palate is a notch below the rest, the nose and finish introduce the rum perfectly and leave a truly pleasant final impression. An exceptional rum, which we won't be seeing again any time soon.

I had the chance to try this one yesterday and it might convince me to buy the latest release wasn't it for the price tag. A wonderful fruity rum from nose to finish. Alight touch of spice and minty on the medium to long finish.

Kampfer, Lack, Lösungsmittel. Sehr nussig und makronig. Getrocknete Früchte, komplexe Zitrusfrüchte. Warm und komplex. Fein und elegant. Wenig Holz, im Mund eine Spur mehr, aber Reife in absoluter Perfektion. Erwartungsgemäß ein schöner Genuss. Absolute Oberliga.
