Kaniché Double Wood XO
Opinions land all over the place here. Most people find it pleasant but very sweet — vanilla, caramel and coconut up front, with a cognac-cask edge from the finish. Fans call it addictive and Christmassy; skeptics say it's thin, one-dimensional and clearly dosed. A couple of tasters even caught a synthetic note under all that sugar. Easy sipping, low expectations.

How does Kaniché Double Wood XO taste?
Aggregated from 123 community reviews.
Soft, very sweet coconut-vanilla sipper Well-liked as a soft, sweet after-dinner sipper, but plenty find it too sweet, thin and one-note. The cognac-cask touch and coconut are the draws; the sugar is the catch.

I love this. Toffee, creme brulee, totally sweet, but not sugary, if that makes sense. Has real rum flavors underneath the sweet notes. Perfect to sip and can't wait to throw some cherry and orange bitters in there with some Demerara in an old fashioned.

From the 24daysofrum box. What is this? Diluted Four Square? Nose: very much like that. Taste: weirdly diluted but also alcoholic at the same time. Wodka-y. Some typical flavours but also very synthetic. Not sure of this is FS though, its hard to fuck up their juice as much as this. Not a fan. Nb: ah its Maison Ferrand. Makes sense. So its hardly Barbados rum.

This is not your typical Barbadian rum because some of the flavours you usually associate with Barbados are missing. A wonderful rum none the less especially if you look at the price. The bottle comes in a nice wooden box with a sliding front which is pretty fancy for a rum in this price range. The nose is sweet and oaky transferring into a soft well rounded palate that has a bit of cognac to it. Price to quality is very good.

An interesting taste, that I find quite OK for sipping. All throughout the tasting I had something linger on my tongue that I could not pinpoint. I find, in the end, that maraschino cherries describe this taste best, it is present for me but not overwhelming.

Geschmacklich vielfältig: Karamell, Vanille und Frucht. Gleichzeitig leicht scharf. Tasty.

Well, not what i expected when good rum from Barbados was announced. Leans heavy on Vanilla & Caramel notes with a bit of coconut in the background. Unfortunately very sweet, definitely dosed. Still pleasant overall, but pretty boring and one-dimensional.

I smell something interesting in the rum, but I can't identify what it is. I don't think I could tell it's from Barbados in a blind tasting. It tastes awfully sweet. Not my cup of tea at all and I hope I don't get my hands on this again😃

Very sweet with Christmas spices.

Unfortunately much too sweet

Time to finish up 1423's "24 days of Christmas". The last rum; day 24. A decent, but not very familiar-tasting Barbados rum. In the nose it has some fruit and woody scents, and in the notes I got cocoa and dried fruits.

Quite tasty. Good with and after the meal.

Very mild, slightly sweet rum with notes of oak, caramel and vanilla. A suitable product for beginners, in my opinion.
Review by Brandon Gerling
Not much in the nose I can decipher, maybe some vanilla or caramel mostly getting solvents and alcohol in the nose. The taste however is nothing compared to the nose for me, it opens up on the palate beautifully, lots of sweetness and fruit with some vanilla flavors. Overall I like it more the second time around.

Der gefällt mir gut. Schön holzige Noten und nicht ganz so gut. Der Alkohol ist super eingebunden.
Review by rum_sk
Sweet, fresh and a bit alcoholic, sort of cognac 👃. 👅 is also sweet but a tad bit bitter with burnt, roasted/charred notes and a coconut along with cognac if you focus but on the other hand I sense some sort of synthetic substance that underlines the sweetness of 🥥.
Review by daiquiri_lab
Fairly straightforward Panama rum with nice brown sugar and toffee notes. You get a bit of vanilla from the wood too. Not quite as much fruit as I was hoping for, and perhaps a little single note. Still, it's quite enjoyable as a sipper.

Not really an eye opener but a mediocre, lightly sweetened Barbados rum. This at least is not so on the nose with the aroma. I don't know if I would suggest someone to buy this. But if you like sweet runs with a hint of coconut I would not stop you.
