Flor de Caña 25 Años
Opinions cluster around "nice but not for the fuss" — a smooth, sweet Nicaraguan built on caramel, vanilla, toffee and coffee, with woody, drying edges late. Fans call it balanced and elegant; skeptics find it thin, short and simple for a 25-year label. Even a taster who loved the character admitted his palate outgrew it once he moved to bolder bottles.

Aggregated from 108 community reviews.
Smooth, sweet coffee-and-caramel sipper Most find it soft, sweet and easy — coffee, caramel, vanilla — but many wish a 25-year rum had more depth, length and character. Pleasant, rarely exciting.

Tasted this rum at the Rhum Fest Paris 2026. Overall one of the best Spanish rum I’ve tasted since I more or less left the Spanish segment. Flor de Cana has produced rum since 1890 in Chichigalpa, Nicaragua. The company was founded by Francisco Alfredo Pellas and the distillery is still in the family over 120 years later. Flor de Cana is said to not add any sugar even though it’s Spanish style produced in a continuous column still process. The “25” at the label is said to stand for the average age. The nose is woody, spicy, fruity, sweet and nutty with scents of oak, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla, orange, caramel, toffee, marmalade and almonds. At the palate it’s dry, sweet, woody, spicy and fruity with flavors of honey, butterscotch, toffee, marmalade, oak, orange, cocoa, coffee and tobacco. The finish is medium long.

This is a good example of a rumstyle I don't like. Lots of caramel/Toffee/sweetness...and thats it. No indication of age or interesting flavours or whatever. Not bad but boring. Drinkable but not exiting at all.

A rather expensive rum for its quality, rather good, but it lacks a lot of things, depth of flavour, length, a higher ABV. Can't convince me. Tasted again and it's better than I remember, but clearly lacks watts.

Mocha with some sweetness. Quite woody and dry at the end which fits very well. Only 40% but still enough power and complexity, but the alcohol is not yet perfectly integrated.

For my taste too light in aroma. A spicy aroma with a slight coffee scent persists in the finish. Fleeting rum with a very short persistence. Disappointing value for money. Still, it remains a pleasant rum with the (unnecessary) charm of organic production. I would never buy it or even give it as a gift at that crazy price!I may be mean, but then I prefer Diplomatico or Barcelò with added sugar, but with a more interesting bouquet.

8:The nose gives off fine notes of oxidised fruit. The toasted wood and roasted nuts are quite dry and almost charcoal-like. The woodiness is also spicy and fragrant, like cedar wood. The maple syrup is both caramelised and woody, and then a little freshness comes in as a surprise. It seems to come from the coconut and its slightly milky water, which leads us towards something creamier like a vanilla crème brûlée or a butterscotch. 8:The palate is soft and quite balanced and tasty. The caramel is rich, leaning more towards its Breton version with salted butter. The molasses covers a wood that seems more fragile than on the nose, the cocoa and coffee remind us of an Irish Coffee=>Caribbean Coffee here🙂. 7,6:On the finish, coffee, liquorice and cocoa linger, with some vanilla at the end... Edit:19.7.25

I find the rum is super balanced and round, tastes just great, brings many sweet notes with such as caramel, vanilla, chocolate and toffee. For me, a rum that I drink super happy.Nachtrag:Meanwhile, I find him no longer quite as great as half a year ago. Is probably also because that my taste has expanded greatly by tasting whacky bottlings.Addendum: photo

On est en plein dans le ron facile à boire et linéaire qui tourne autour de caramel chocolat vanille boisé épice. Un rhum qui ravira certainement un débutant, mais j imagine mal un buveur occasionel mettre cette somme pour acquérir une bouteille

When I was still a fan of sweeter rums I would often find this one dry, bitter and heavy on wood notes without much complexity on offer. Now that I am accustomed to higher proof rums, with more complexity and low to zero dosage, this one just comes off sweet and simple. This begs the question - this rum is bound to leave a lot of people behind. I think there is a soft spot/niche for those that still like lower proof, easy-drinking rum but withou the cloying sweetness that often comes with it. I suppose, for them this would be a standout. Sadly, I spent a lot on this bottle but neither iteration of my rum journey fell into that definition and thus this one has always been destined to just be ok and badly overpriced. Live and learn - I guess the real lesson is that I should have gotten on Rum-X sooner 😏

Vcelku tradiční vůně sušeného ovoce, vanilky, sudu a kávovým nádechem. Chuťově podobně. Karamel, sušené ovoce, hlavně datle, trocha citrusů, káva a ještě pralinky v závěru.

Very unspectacular on the nose. Otherwise, there is not much to say.A not overwhelming rum. Predicate drinkable.

On The Rocks: On the nose alcohol aroma with moderate fruit and floral notes with mild spices and oak. Taste has a stronger alcohol hit with pronouced fruit and floral notes with sweet undertones. Finish is medium but sweet with a lingering warmth. Mixed Pepsi Zero: Mild Fruit aroma with sweetness. Taste is sweet yet slightly bitter making it confusing. Generally not overly enjoyable mixed.

Fancy design - insignificant content!
