Rhum J.M Série N°2 Cognac Cask Finish 2006
Sip this one neat and slow — it's built for a tasting glass, not a mixer. You get that unmistakable Martinique agricole grassiness meeting the cognac cask: peach and pear fruit up front, then it dries out into oak and mild pepper. Several tasters call it dry, floral and complex. At 41.2% it reads a touch watery to some, but the long, spicy finish holds.
The community says- Cognac-cask complexity
- Peach and pear fruit
- But: Slightly watery body

This is a high class Agricole that’s dry, well balanced and complex. The nose is quite floral and the aromas from the cognac barrel can’t be missed. At the palate it’s floral, grassy and spicy with a nice and spicy finish.

Bien plus intéressant que le finish calva. Nez très gourmand bien fruité, avec de la pâte d'amande et la canne présente. Bouche en dessous dominée par les épices douces, un côté vineux et des fruits discrets.

Strong peach aromas on the nose, very mild and sweet, floral, unmistakably Agricole. Also mild on the palate, again typical Agricole and with a clear swing towards the barrel. It is slightly watery but still has enough power. Long finish, very dry, spicy and hardly fruity. Interesting J.M but somehow I still have a hard time with Agricole.

Ahhh... Now that's a little rum pleasure. You can recognize the Martinique but also the cognac. A happy, harmonious marriage. A peach/pear fruitiness persists throughout the tasting. The low alcohol content is well managed and adds a touch of freshness.

Cognac cask often add to the rums in my recent experience. This one confirms my opinion, with the JM profile still pretty similar to 2000/3 millesims, but with another level of complexity added to the mix. Dark dried fruits, along with spices and vanilla increase my appreciation for this rhum

Spice, and fresh, dark fruit flavors dominate. I mean to taste something mustardy, some barrel and mild pepper. In any case, complex and deep, very aromatic! For beginners rather not suitable, Agricole friends will definitely come to taste!

On the nose, I get a fresh impression of green apple and light citrus notes. The grassy freshness familiar from many agricoles is somewhat in the background here in terms of flavor, but there is a wonderful intermezzo of barrel and fruit bouquet. The sweetness in the first few seconds of the taste quickly subsides and turns into a pleasant dryness. For just 41.2%, you then get a long-lasting aftertaste. Super!
