Depaz Cask Strength Small Batch 2002
Dried apricot, glue and tobacco in the nose, then wood, leather, spice and a little coffee once it opens up. The 17 years show as deep, dry oak. Almost everyone loves the nose; the palate splits people — several find it drier and hotter, with the alcohol more present than the 61.6% suggests. One taster even caught sweet-wine and Calvados notes in the finish.
The community says- Complex fruity nose
- Well-aged oak
- Dry, bitter palate

How does Depaz Cask Strength Small Batch 2002 taste?
Aggregated from 48 community reviews.
Deep, dry aged agricole with a stunning nose A serious aged Depaz agricole most rate highly for its complex, fruity-woody nose. The common catch: the palate turns dry, bitter and spirit-forward, less generous than the aromas promise.

This is a lovely and very well balanced rum and once rested you get the full experience. Make sure to save the empty glass for a few hours and then nose it again to get stronger notes of chocolate and spices. The nose is balanced, fresh and fruity with tobacco and light wood and chocolate. The chocolate is more obvious in the empty glass after a while. The palate is complex and very well balanced and fresh with wood, dried fruit, spice and light chocolate and coffee. The finish is long and oily with wood, dried fruit and chocolate. Price to quality is very good.

What a complex, balanced and in-depth rum.... An aroma spectacle from the nose to the finish ! I am simply thrilled away !One of the best Agricoles I could try so far
Review by Benoit Mahe

Second tasting: I like very much, today I find in the aftertaste even Calvados! ( 2)Nose: the first thing I notice is that the alcohol is very restrained, nothing bites and stings the nose. And then there is a striking similarity with sweet wine (Trockenbeerenauslese)Palate: nothing more of sweet wine but strong alcohol and much barrel influence and floral notes. Slight resemblance to cognac.Finish: cool, the impression of sweet wine comes back again! Very good rum, a bottle I would not buy. For me it is too woody and too expensive, but I'm glad I have a sample.

Glue, glue and then dried fruit on the nose. Warm, round, complex. In the mouth then similar, but more wood and very herbal. With water then cookie dough.Very good Agricole. 62% is great integrated. Drinks really well.

The , frutta , vegetale , legno Non mi sarei mai aspettato un prodotto così completo … Da comprare e bere

Franconian Tasting Gang am 19.04.2024 Im Agricole Battle messen sich Neisson Straight from the Barrel No.26, No.252 und der Depaz CS 2002 Barrel 706 (der hier der unfaire Gegener ist) No.26 kann man mal trinken, ist schon gut , No.252 ist schon etwas besser aber der Depaz macht hier klar das Rennen gegen die beiden anderen. Er ist einfach eine andere Liga.

Franconian Rum Tasting Gang / 2024-04-19: Neisson Straight from the Barrel No. 26 vs. No. 252 vs. Depaz 2002 Barrel 706 Den Vergleich gegen die beiden Neisson-Abfüllungen gewinnt der Depaz 2002 locker.

Review by Basti
Die Nase gefällt mir richtig gut. Getr. Nase -> Top, Gaumen -> Ok.

On the nose come exciting notes towards green apple, herbaceous freshness, dried fruit, milk chocolate and caramel, but also a fair amount of solvent. On the palate, however, the Depaz comes across quite gruff, alcoholic spiciness, lots of (young) barrel, apple, salty finish. The nose convinces, on the palate, unfortunately, he can not keep up.
Review by crazyforgoodbooze
