Overripe banana and glue on the nose, then the wood takes over — 36 tropical years leave their mark. On the palate it's charred oak, licorice and bitter grapefruit peel, with dark chocolate and currants pushing back through the tannins. Full-throttle at 62.3%, this is old Clarendon at its most wood-heavy. Fans of long-aged Jamaicans love it; if you don't want the oak running the show, look elsewhere.

Lots of glue and tropical fruit basket on the nose. Wood is present, but just right considering the age. Very nice! In the mouth then much less fruit, now the oak dominates. I really like the rum on the nose. The rest is wood.

I think this one will raise a stir during tasting. I do like Jamaican rums thus the high score.Leave to rest for at least 15 minutes in order to release all the flavours.Molasses and fruits get to your nose first, then comes the funk and woody vanilla and some varnish.The palate is nice and strong. Burnt wood with fruit, chocolate and caramel in the front. Then you get hit by subtle tobacco, mint and licorice.The finish is long and stays with you for a long while. Charred wood with currants and wonderful chocolate.

Very powerful! Long tropical aging clearly shows and delivers heavily on wood. Wood and fruits are battling it out on the palate with familiar Clarendon spices lingering in the picture. Not quite as complex as the Velier Rum Sapiens bottlings, but still very much my cup of tea. Admittedly there is a lot of wood. If this is not what you prefer this might not be quite for you.

spannende Nummer, sehr bitter, fruchtig und komplex. 1984er Clarendon wie er im Buche steht aber mit deutlich mehr süße als die neueren noch älteren Vertreter von Velier und Plantation. Dunkler Mokka, Kräuter wie Salbei und Thymian, alte überreife Banane, Grapefruit schale , Menthol und Kampfer sowie Lösungsmittel und sauer süße Johannisbeeren. Heftiges Teil!!

Rhum goûté au GRF à Berlin en 2026. Un nez puissant, fruité et largement boisé. Beaucoup de banane trop mûre et un côté solvants/colle qui avec le bois assombrit le rhum. En bouche la puissance reste avec toujours un bois marqué mais aussi des fruits plus complexes et plus présents (banane et agrumes) avec des épices qui apportent une belle complexité. La finale est longue mais plutôt unidimensionnelle, marquée par le bois et son amertume. Tout à la fin, étonnamment, le côté agrumes resurgit.

A wonderful full-bodied old Jamaican. Orange cure and wood on the nose. On the palate, the start is pinch, wood and liquorice. Lovely long finish in the mouth
