Aroma visualization from community tastings
Silver Seal Clarendon Jamaica 1984
Wood leads here — 36 years of tropical aging show as charred oak, orange peel and licorice, with overripe banana, varnish and a dark mocha edge fighting through. Several tasters call it powerful and bitter; one loved the nose but found "the rest is holz" (wood). A big, cask-strength Clarendon for people who want oak front and center, not a soft sipper.
The community says- Deep charred oak
- Orange and licorice
- Very wood-dominant

Aggregated from 20 community reviews.
Wood-heavy, bitter old Clarendon at cask strength Loved by Jamaican-rum fans for its charred wood, orange and licorice depth, but genuinely divisive — the heavy oak and strong bitter notes are too much for some.

I think this one will raise a stir during tasting. I do like Jamaican rums thus the high score.Leave to rest for at least 15 minutes in order to release all the flavours.Molasses and fruits get to your nose first, then comes the funk and woody vanilla and some varnish. The palate is nice and strong. Burnt wood with fruit, chocolate and caramel in the front. Then you get hit by subtle tobacco, mint and licorice. The finish is long and stays with you for a long while. Charred wood with currants and wonderful chocolate.

Lots of glue and tropical fruit basket on the nose. Wood is present, but just right considering the age. Very nice! In the mouth then much less fruit, now the oak dominates. I really like the rum on the nose. The rest is wood.
