Labourdonnais Original Rum
Neat it splits the room: some get fresh cane, banana and a little floral-honey lift, others just find it sour and musty. On ice it settles, and it really finds its feet in a mixer — a "special" mojito or with cola. This is an unaged Mauritian cane-juice agricole at a punchy 50%, grassy and dry with a sharp acidity that not everyone loves.

Part of the tasting at the estate. This one is probably the best out of the whole set that I tried due to the reasonable 50% of strength, a maximum allowed on Mauritius. It is punchy with floral, earthy and fermentation notes. Some honey like sweetness.

Ein sehr fruchtiger Geruch, Zuckerrohr, Banane, etwas vergoren, leicht floral und schwach alkoholisch. Der Geschmack ist ebenfalls kräftig nach Zuckerrohr, fruchtig, die 50 Prozent Alkohol sind etwas mehr bemerkbar. Ein wirklich gut ausbalancierter ungereifter Agricole.

Quite acidic, musty and unfortunately not my cup of tea. There's clearly better rums from Mauritius ... Probably the worst I had so far from Mauritius in the glass. Too bad
