Habitation Velier Hampden C<>H 2010
The surprise here is how tame 68.5% can feel — tasters keep saying the alcohol sits "almost round," despite one of Hampden's highest ester marks. Expect a wall of glue and acetone up front, then overripe banana, grilled pineapple and mango, with dark chocolate and toffee closing a very long finish. Tropically aged, funky, and dense. One reviewer called it a "goddess disguised as a berserker."

Aggregated from 156 community reviews.
Massive, funky tropical Hampden, beautifully integrated Something close to a consensus favorite among Hampden fans — huge esters and tropical fruit with the ABV shockingly well integrated. The only real gripe: hard to find and very intense for newcomers.
Hampden and high-ester funk devotees

This Hampden C<>H is a force of nature, a raw, yet incredibly complex aromatic concentrate. The nose is powerful and lively, intensely fruity and phenolic, with some very pleasant pastry touches that round out the edges. On the palate, we find a thick, fat and oily rum, very concentrated on notes of tropical fruits, citrus fruits, some fermented notes but also a floral and spicy touch, then some leather. The 68.5% are relatively discreet. The whole is impressively round. The finish continues the pleasure of Jamaican funk with also a touch of olive, tannins but also chocolate and a salty touch. A Jamaican rum in its pure state, extremely tasty and balanced. Great art.

WoW what an amazing rum 😍 The best of Hampden i ever had in the glass, so far. Nose: Wonderfull synergy of funk, ester, trop. fruits and glue. Mouth: The alcohol is perfectly integrated🫠Very delicious, balanced, complex rum, some nice lovely notes of overripe fruits and pineapple. Finish: Is quite long and fruity with some notes of the barrel with a lightly astringency. 🤤🤤

Holy Sh**t! I’m in love 😍 3rd time tasting this one and it still outbeats all other rums I ever tasted. And now at my 4th tasting my fantastic friends ❤️ just gave me a whole bottle of this diamond. 🥰🥰 5th tasting… Goosebumps just goosebumps ✨✨ Xth tasting… just love… just love ❤️❤️ - Another two years sine last tasting. This is spectacular on all levels and HOLY FUCK!!! This is still extraordinary!!! - 260109: Several years later and this still beats everything for me. 😍😍

Absolutely brute high-ester Hampden and one of the best tropically aged Hampden to date: fruit esters, wood, spices, rich caramel sweetness. If you like high-proof fruit bombs in a glass, you have to try this rum.

Tropical Hampden Power!
Review by Adrian Wahl
What a board. The level is simply unbelievably high. Certainly one of the highlights of what I have opened this year in bottles. For most, this is only a speculative object anyway, but the opening is so worth it. Absolutely brute good stuff.

Ya man...massive respect🇯🇲🎉 a great rum, a lot of fun to drink
Review by Christoph
Overripe banana with some sweet pineapple in a cloud of the HD typical fermented fruit. In the mouth a brilliant and pure sweet tropical fruits that open every pore on the tongue. The finish adds something smoky, even slightly nutty, while the pineapple remains present.
Review by cigares
A nose of esters, overripe fruits, tropical fruits, but also wood glue, fermentation with a nice pastry sweetness in the background. A powerful but balanced palate between esters, wood glue, overripe fruits, the pastry side, and yellow fruits. The finish is long, balanced but powerful, complex and tasty. In my opinion, this rum stands out in the small tasting of Hampden's High Esters.

A Hampden that used to be too intense for me and I could hardly relate to. By now, I've generally come back to Hampden and I also really, really like the C<>H. It's still extreme, definitely. But I’m into it, and you definitely have to give it the necessary time.

9,3:On the nose, esters, solvents, varnish and glue, overripe, fermented tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, citrus fruits, roasted wood notes like chocolate, roasted nuts, pastry, spicy vanilla, bump into our nosetrils, with almost perfect balance, yet complexity. On aeration, sweet, buttery, caramelized notes, with mango, round up rum to our highest expectations. 9,3:On the palate, the attack is funky with medicinal notes like esters, glue, sweet, creamy with cream toffee, overripe, fermented tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, citrus fruits, later red fruits and dried apricots, raisins, some of the fruits are candied. On oxidation, the molasses brings briny olive, hints of tea, balances the sweetness from the beginning, some spices and leather join... 9,2:The finish is long, dry, round, balanced, sweet, creamy with the palate notes lingering on, slightly smoky. Edit:24.1.2026, oxidation helps, an upgrade to 9,3

Review by Serge
Great rum. Perfect combo of tropical maturation, fruit, spice and esters. A real grenade with great warmth over the fireworks of pineapple, banana, mango, heavy sweetness, wood, glue and glue. Not comparable with the ridiculously short-aged HV bottlings that are now being released.
Review by DomM
Very nice and potent Hampden nose. Funky with lots of tropical fruits including characteristic grilled pineapple. While ester heavy still complex and very well balanced. This is top notch. Even better on the palate. Funky with an intense basket of tropical fruits. Full-bodied with nicely integrated alcohol and only the slightest hint of astringency despite its high ABV and ester content. Tropically aged high proof, high ester Hampden and at that - alongside the HV 2010 HGML - the best I had so far.
Review by Domi Mal
The nose simply blows you away despite the 2 hours in the glass! Full in the face, ester whip at its finest! Wow is this spicy, fruity, fermented, banana, pineapple, pastry reminds me a little of the tropical HV Long Pond Teca 2005, not so brutal but the spiciness is very nice! On the palate, no wonder, a lot of ester, but the fruit and spiciness are not neglected! You can clearly taste the tropical maturation, rough and with rough edges that are simply great. Classic Hampden notes emerge beautifully in the mouth after a while! Very long finish - outstanding! Excellent distillate! Never had a better tropical C<>H in my glass!

After trying this rum I promptly order a few extra for my shelf, that's how good it is in my mind. The nose is absolutely wonderfully fruity (overripe) with the normal funk and esters. The nose is there as soon as you open the bottle and it just gets better when resting. The palate lives up to the nose. A complex, full bodied and intense experience again with overripe fruits and ester and a hint of barrel in the back. The finish is like forever, sweet with tropical fruits and a hint of barrel.

Funky grenade again and again. Such a great high ester rum 😍😎
Review by DosenZorn
Tasted as a 5cl sample. Nice Hampden nose. Decent amount of glue and a nice basket of fruit in the background. On the palate esters and marzipan, a little metallic and all super intense. The finish lasts very long and it comes cocoa / dark chocolate to it.This rum is really fun.
Review by Vincent D
Superbe. Intense. Brûlant. Funky. Fruité. Esterisé. Solvants. Colle. Long.
Review by Benoit Mahe
The nose is pastry-like. The palate confirms the impression of a pastry nose, with fruit and esters. The finish is superb, between almond and tropical fruit. A great success.

Wow. Wann wird sowas nochmal abgefüllt?

Really good Hampden rum - funky and special at the same time. Long after taste and a lot of complexity in the flavor profile. However, not for beginners 😉 I strongly recommend it Tasted again - really strong and good. Confirming the 9.0 rating !

... Hampden, legendarni jamajska destilerka, ktera krome rumu produkuje take alkohol do parfemu. Ve vsech rumech z teto destilerky ucitite divoke estery, po kterych cely vas organizmus nasakne vuni zluteho tropickeho ovoce - manga, papaji, anansu, broskvi. Jeden z rumu, ktere "must try before die"

Really excellent Hampden. Extremely funky with beautifully fermented fruit and delicious pineapple. Alcohol could be a tad better integrated. Unfortunately, the rum is already overpriced. A clear recommendation.

For the 50th review i wanted to review a high abv Jamaican rum. On the nose: We got the typical Jamaican rum notes in here. Ester, overripe fruits, glue. Fermented notes. What stands out in here on the nose is the balance and harmony of those Jamaican rum flavour. Promising Taste: Oh yeah, its intense and full bodied. Once you work over the burn, you really get for a lack of better word, a fruit bomb. Great balance of flavours and roundness is what sets this apart from other high ester Jamaican rums that i have tasted so far. Finish: Almonds, dried fruits, a little bit of barrell notes in there. Glue. Banana notes. Quite a intense rum. Its balanced, rich profile especially on the finish is why i am going to put this rum on my top Jamaican rums list.

Review by Johnny Rumcask
Leider geil!

Richtig gut.

What a board in the nose and on the palate. Just nir fun! Beguiling aroma that fills the whole room. On the palate, very complex and intense. The alcohol content quite present, but not unpleasant.
Review by Arthur Moreau
Superb Hampden with lots of esters on the nose and palate, which then give way to lots of fruit and the distillery's smoky markers, very long finish, excellent rum.
Review by BnBrt
J'aime beaucoup.
Review by kondgab
An absolute beast—almost perfume-like. Incredibly complex with a funky nose of esters, glue, and tropical fruits. The palate is rich and fruity, finishing with subtle barrel notes. A top tropical Hampden.
Review by Rhum Mirror 🇧🇪
The nose is damn pastry and bluffing. Ripe exotic fruits, frangipane and you feel like you're in the bathroom when the lady decides to do her nails. Glue and acetone full of nose. The attack in mouth is incredible. It is damn well integrated considering the pedigree (big BDF doped with esters)! We find the ripe banana, even too ripe typical of the distillery. But not only, it is complex on the nice woody, olive tapenade, strawberry candies ... it's greedy! The finish is long on bitter chocolate and candied fruits.
Review by Stylo
As you all already know, this is one of the highest mark in terms of easters count from Hampden. It is really smooth, not overwhelming like the Long Pond TECC/TECA, so very much enjoyable on a daily basis. You’ll get tons of overripe fruits (ananas, banana), along with creamy flavors (I get also a touch of yogurt) and a sprinkle of vanilla/burnt sugar and maybe almond (more like almond milk, for me :D) overall, I find the HGML mark just a little bit better and more balanced than this one!

beautiful Hampden !❤️

Review by Alexander Rasch
Sehr geiler Hampden.

One of the best (maybe the best) Hampden I've had

C<>H (C diamond H) = 1300-1400 esters = strong About the same as the long pond TECA in ester but below nose level mouth and balance
