Second and final tasting (the bottle is now empty)I have the impression that the medicinal notes have intensified in the time the bottle has been open. Resin has been added. The same on the palate. I did not remember it so intense.finish remains restrained. Better than I remembered him ( 3 points).This is my first Caroni and I'm honestly a little disappointed because I expected more. But so it is with expectations 😁Insgesamt but still a good rum.

A Caroni in the Advent calendar, who would have thought it? One of the "weaker" ones, but still a Caroni. Tar, rubber and sugar on the nose. Then rubber, solvent and very mineral on the palate. Still a top rum.

#5261 18.04.2025 Enjoying some samples at home while listening to some nice Trance Tracks. Nose Wood, light roasted, light tar, faint rubber, fruits, faint cherry, spice. Palate Wood, light roasted, fruits, light raisin, faint cherry, light tar, light rubber, spice. Finish Medium long, wood, light raisin, light tar, faint rubber, spice, faint smoke. Empty glass Light leather, wood, dried fruit, light tar and rubber. A rather light version of a Caroni.

Für meinen Geschmack ein schöner Caroni zum Einstieg. Man hat ein bisschen Teer und Gummi in der Nase. Geschmacklich mineralische Noten, etwas Gummi und Lösungsmittel. Finde ihn sehr zugänglich vor allem für den Einstieg in die Caroni Welt

Classic profile for the 1998 Caroni vintage - the dirty HTR aromas are present, alcohol very well integrated. In addition, some wood and spices as well as earthy notes on the palate, which lead to a subjective deduction for me.

... Caroni is a distillery from Trinidad, producing at the time of its greatest glory rum, which was added at a ratio of 1:10 to the naval blend. It was too strong and strange to be pleasant on the tongue. In 2000, the distillery ceased production and closed. Only in 2010 did tasters appear who took a liking to the rum because of its special taste. And the interest grew. Caroni belongs to the category of "you need to try before you die" rums. I recommend it, Caroni is a truly unique rum.

The palate and finish are surprisingly aligned. Nose is well balanced with some spice and burnt brown sugar. Real nail polish and rubber tyres in the mouth with a spicy finish which lingers and then dissipates. It’s a full bodied but not outrageous rum, good but not spectacular and given the Caroni “halo” was hoping for more

Premier nez, bouteille ouverte depuis peu je trouve qu’il a la maladie de la bouteille (poussiéreux) ! Changement de verre et oxiydation, on retrouve des esters, de l’alcool et une complexité sur des notes empiromatiques ! Bouche très eau de vie sur l’alcool assez sec. Finale chaude sur le fumé.
