A multi-layered, outstanding Agricole, in which a pleasant interplay between wood, sweet fruitiness and herbs pampers the palate. A wonderful sipper that spreads softly on the palate.

Most helpful mixed review
Tasted against a 13-year-old Bielle from 2008 from the Rhumhouse in Switzerland (without a RumX number). While the latter tastes fruity but somehow strangely chemical, the Rumclub has unfortunately not (yet) covered itself in glory with its Edition 08. It is rather tart and woody, which is not a bad thing in itself, but what really drags it down for me is that the alcohol is really under-integrated. Too bad, not a highlight.

8,4:On the nose, sugarcane, fresh, grassy, flowery, sweet with honey, mineral, strong barrel impact with roasted oak notes like caramel, cocoa, leather, spicy with nutmeg, orange peel and yellow fruits, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, sugarcane is earthy, herbaceous, vanilla and nuts join, nougat, various fruits arise like pear, dried fruits and sour cherry, some candied. 8.7:On the palate, the attack is fresh with tea, grassy with sugarcane juice, flowery, mineral, earthy, slightly dark with licorice, fruity with dried fruits like raisins and apricots, orange peel and yellow fruits, as the wood is toasted with pastry, chocolate, caramel, perhaps toffee, leather, spicy with allspice, vanilla, peppery. 8,5:The finish is long, dry&tannic, with candied sugarcane, sweet with honey, grassy, flowery, earthy with cigar tobacco, fruity with green, citrus and dried , yellow fruits, hints of berries. The oak is toasted, spicy, smoky.

I get a little Cointreau like orange note that tastes a bit artificial and I’m not a big fan of that taste. Apart from that this is a decent agricole.

And another delicious Agricole to finish. Very spicy nose, vanilla, but caramel can also be detected. On the palate, a classy, pleasant sweetness consisting of caramel and chocolate, otherwise still slightly woody and spicy.

I like this one a lot especially because it's a cheaper rum that pulls off a balanced and complex overall usually found in more expensive rums. The nose is spiced with orange and oak/leather. There is also a light floral note with caramel at the end. The palate is complex and well balanced with fruit and spice. I can also find toasted oak and smoke. The finish is long and oaky/smoky with fruits.

Der Alkohol könnte besser eingebunden sein. Die markanten Bielle-Noten sind vorhanden, aber nicht ausgeprägt. Fruchtig, relativ viel Kräuter, etwas Holz und Gewürze. Das geht deutlich besser, aber schlecht ist auch kein schlechter Bielle. Hätte vielleicht noch etwas Zeit zur Reifung gebraucht.

Schöner, ausgewogener Bielle im klassischen Gewand. In der Nase noch sehr auf der Eichen- und Vanilleseite, im Mund dazu dann leicht rauchig. Mir fehlt der letzte Pep für eine noch höhere Bewertung, aber trotzdem bleibt der vorliegende Rum ein sehr schöner Vertreter aus Marie Galante.

In der Nase schön fruchtig würzig. Eine Mischung aus Sauerkirsche und Zitrus gepaart mit Vanille und Leder. Auch eine feine süßliche Holznote und etwas blumiges in Richtung Veilchen sind dabei. Im Mundraum erst salzig-bitter, holzig und würzig. Lakritz und Kardamom. Das bittere bleibt, geht aber in etwas wie Grapefruitschale über. Im Abgang bleibt es bitter holzig und dann kommt am Ende herbes Zuckerrohr.

My RumRating Review 3y ago: In the nose, the rhum is incredibly balanced and harmonizes wonderfully. Candied fruits and caramel make the rhum sweet and floral, grassy notes pair with a fine spice. Oak and vanilla resonate. Not a classic Agricole nose but an absolutely wonderful one. On the palate, the rhum shows toasted wood and roasted tropical fruits. Strong comes a pleasant sweetness, oak, some leather, baking spice and some pepper. At the finish then the Agricole notes. Grass pairs with more intense wood notes and bitter substances and some Bourbon. A great rhum and easy sipper, but not lacking in complexity. A very accessible agricole with lots to explore. And that in cask strength for less than 80 euros. It just tastes delicious to me. There are probably better ones. But I could drink this Bielle forever. Therefore subjective a full score.

Blindverkostung: ganz frisch eingeschenkt nehme ich mit meiner Nase im ersten Moment nur typisch spanische Aromen war: eine leichte Süße, Karamell, Honig und Vanille. Nach 3-4 Minuten wird er herber und würziger, etwas pflanzlich mit Schwarztee und Rosinen. Nach etwa 10-15 Minuten öffnet er dann komplett: Gras, erdige Aromen, Nelken und Zitrusfrüchte kommen jetzt zum Vorschein. Das muss ein Agricole sein – was mir aber auch wirklich erst nach den besagte 10-15 Minuten bewusst wurde. Am Gaumen dann klar als Agricole zu erkennen, aber nicht der typische Martinique Agricole, sondern etwas anders. Nasses Gras, Birnen, Melone, Karamell und sogar etwas Rauch ist zu finden mit ungefähr 53-55% und vermutlich noch jungspundig mit vielleicht 6-8 Jahren. Eine leichte aber angenehme Bitterkeit macht sich beim Abgang breit, die ihn auch etwas länger gestaltet als gedacht. Ich habe zwar noch nicht so viele Rums aus Bielle getrunken, aber ich bin mir ziemlich sicher, dass er von dort ist. Auf jeden Fall ein guter Rum, der Spass macht! 83 Punkte
