Foursquare ECS VI 2005
Most people land somewhere between "classic Foursquare, one of my favourites" and "well balanced but nothing special" — and both camps are right. This 2005 leans to the woody, dry side of the ECS line: heavy ex-bourbon vanilla, toasted coconut, caramel, tobacco and leather, with a bit of glue and solvent on the nose. At 59% the heat sits in the finish. Textbook Bajan, if a touch reserved.

It's just a Foursquare you know.

Really good vintage representative. Much influence bom ex-bourbon cask, which suits Foursquare well and results in abundant vanilla, chocolate, pepper, allspice and caramel notes. Very good representative of the archetypal Foursquare profile.

26.11.2025 Retasting this nice rum and I still like it a lot. Luckily I have a full bottle on the shelf as well. --------- A very well balanced rum with nice fruity notes. A very good example on how to make a first class cask strength rum. Well worth the price.
Review by Gregor
In the smell, the typical Foursquare forward tones of glue and solvent and banana. In the taste then a lot of flavor like a grilled banana. Suseer toffee and roasted aromas with banana nests. The 59 percent is a perfect match. Unfortunately, the prices for such a bottling are rising. But you should still try it

Spontaneous comparison between the RX15990 and the RX50. They are different vintages, but as always with Foursquare, both bottlings are at a high level with the typical flavor markers. For me, however, the RX50 has the edge.
Review by Sebastian Kornett
The 2007 similar but a little missing him then but to come to the 2007er ran. Nevertheless, a nice sipping rum that has a nice spicy woody with subtle sweetness in the finish.

Always a pleasure to return.

Etwas wuchtiger und weniger komplex als der 2004.

Still a reference ECS vintage after all the output and hype of recent years. Great rum.

When poured into the glass, the rum is relatively restrained and flat on the nose. With more time in the glass (>1 hour) it opens up and the aromas become more intense. On the palate it has a slightly floral attack with predominantly spices and wood.

Classic Foursquare. One of my favourites.
Review by Jussi Piirainen
Another Foursquare rum. On the nose:Cask influence is obvious. Strong woody and vanilla notes. Under that you get some dried fruits and sweeter notes like caramel and toffee. Typical Foursquare, nicely balanced. Taste: Heavy bourbon barrel notes. Roasted. Spicy with dome heat in to it. Tobacco notes. Not a wholelot of sweetness going on, i would say "mildly bitter". The alcohol is integrated very well. Dry. Finish: Woody, leather and tobacco notes. Little bit of spicy notes. Balanced and nice complexity in the finish. I would say that this is a bourbon whisky drinkers rum. Out of the Foursquare ECS series rums that i have tasted so far, this rum sits on the woody and dryer side.

After a long time, I took the bottle off the shelf again. The nose is still enchanting, dried fruit and wood warm you up. On the palate, this translates into a really great intensity.

Review by Morgan Garet
Nose greedy and pastry with the coconut the chocolate the vanilla and the caramel in the foreground then the citrus fruits come to refresh the whole. In mouth it is very round very pastry, me tobacco and the nutmeg come to tone the whole then a side of orange peel very pleasant brings a small freshness.Finale long on the pastry side and the soft spices.
Review by Timo Groeger
Review by Alan Bertoli
Molto intenso. Finale lunghissimo, eterno, caldo e pepato.

Très belle réalisation riche et harmonieuse.
Review by TheCoonOfRum
Review by David Heraty
Nose: Vanilla, coconut, fudge, chocolate, citrus, light varnish Mouth: Very gradual soft burn, nice spice, light ripe banana, vanilla, dates, tobacco Finish: Flavour gradually declines midway but the heat maintains for a medium length finish This is quite vanilla forward. While having obvious similarities with other 'annual' editions, it feels slightly reserved and lacking in complexity. However, it still maintains nice character and is very tasty.

Another from Foursquere, the aroma has the woodiness of Barbados, the taste has bourbon notes. It's my style of rum, but I don't notice any significant differences from others - either from the bottling for W1 or Indialible. I'm sure they'll be there, I just don't have it as full-bodied.
Review by Cino
Vanilla, spice, fruit and caramel. Heavy, complex and very well balanced rum. In true Foursquare ECS style, it represents the trends of recent years and the distillery's footprint in a big way.

One of my favorite, unfortunately still very difficult to find or at horrendous prices.
