Rum Albrecht Burke's Jamaica Rum-Verschnitt

Here's the twist: this is a Rum-Verschnitt, a blend of real Jamaican rum stretched with neutral spirit, and it tastes like it. The nose reads Jamaican — some ester, glue, tropical fruit, lemon peel — but several tasters flag a muffy, almost plastic edge. On the palate it's thin, watered-down and oddly sweet, with a faint funk that never fully lands. Most members finish it puzzled rather than pleased.

How does Rum Albrecht Burke's Jamaica Rum-Verschnitt taste?

Aggregated from 12 community reviews.

Thin, watery Jamaican blend better for baking Recognizably Jamaican but stretched too far — thin, artificial and one-dimensional. A few would still take it over Bacardi; most say it's better suited to baking.

Blindtasting #4: first sensation: Hampden HLCF. Some funk and sweetness. Tropical fruits. On the palate: watered down. Rather sweet. Some funk and fruits - could be HLCF 🤔 Cheers, Johannes for the set - was a blast to taste.

Nichts was ich jetzt nochmal bräuchte.

Insgesammt aber nichts was freude macht.

No rum is more imitated than Jamaican rum. This is the home of funk, the fruity, overripe-banana intensity that drinkers call hogo, made in the biggest pot stills outside Irish whiskey. When the rest of the Caribbean moved to the column still, Jamaica kept the pot still as its house style, and that stubbornness is exactly why its rum is so prized today.
