Isla del Ron Long Pond 1982
Sip this one slowly and neat — at 30 years and 56.2%, it's built for a quiet glass, not a mixer. Wood and old barrel lead, wrapped in cream toffee, tobacco and a bit of dark chocolate, with cherry and faint tropical fruit underneath. Several tasters call it "liquid history," creamy and balanced, but a few feel it sits just past its peak and light on Jamaican punch.

Sono rimasto piacevolmente sorpreso da questo imbottigliamento! Ha tutti i sentori tipici di questa distilleria anche se ha meno picchi di sapori ma risulta molto ben equilibrato in tutta la degustazione!

Very old. Unfortunately a little too old. The rum is very dry and already shows some bitter notes. The alcohol is also slightly scratchy. Too bad, I had expected great things here.

in the other glass again the 82 (33 year old) BBR Long Pond for comparison. It's amazing how big the differences are! The IdR is fruitier, more cream and vinegar, somehow more typical LP. The BBR is milder, spicier, almost like a mature Agricole with nutmeg and earthy notes. On the palate, the long ageing comes through in both, and cask and tobacco dominate. The BBR has a touch more sweetness, the IdR is a little more roasted and tart (lime?). Overall, the BBR is slightly ahead.

01.06.2019 Had a nice meet up at this Nordic Rum Fest where we brought some of our own bottles. Notes. Medium dark colour. Nose: fresh, fruity, wood, light roasted, cherry. Palate: oily, wood, roasted, earthy, cherry, light chocolate. Finish: long and warm, medium dry, wood, light smoke, chocolate, dried fruit.

I’m very glad to have sampled a 1982 rum. The nose is pretty good but I find that this rum lacks a little fruit in the mouth.

Der älteste Rum der bisher in meinem Glas ist! Die Nase ist sofort auffällig mit einem kräftigen Geruch nach altem modrigen Keller und morschem nassen Holz und Erde. Zum Glück sind da auch noch tropische Früchte, Toffee und Gewürze. Am Gaumen herrschen die Holz- und Fassnoten vor und überdecken die anderen Töne fast vollständig. Der Nachklang ist wie zu erwarten ebenfalls vom Fass geprägt aber nur minimal bitter, eher ledrig und nach Tabak. Ganz zum Schluss kommt nochmal eine eigenartige alkoholisch-metallische Note durch. Das war eine schöne Erfahrung und Geschichtsreise mit einem sehr guten Rum, der aber für meinen Geschmack seinen Zenit überschritten hat.

Das ist schon ein Stück weit Geschichte im Glas!!! In der Nase sehr elegant mit feinen Frucht- und Sommerblüten-Noten! Und natürlich altes Fass im Vordergrund! Am Gaumen setzt sich dieses Spiel bis zum Abgang fort! Ein toller Rum, aber wohl etwas über seinen Zenit hinaus!

Zur 500sten Verkostung ein alter Tropfen. Eine schöne intensive und komplexe Nase, die klassische lange Holz, Vanille und röstiger Toffee liefert. Am Gaumen ist er vollmundig, cremig, mit beruhigter Frucht, einem Hauch von erdigen Noten und einem sehr langen Abgang. Erinnert mich ein wenig an Guyana, liegt wahrscheinlich an der langen Reifung.

Ein kleines Mitbringsel vom German Rum Fest 2026. Zum Glück nicht gleich auf der Messe probiert, sondern in Ruhe zu Hause. Ein wahrlich schöner geschmeidig, runder und cremiger LongPond von 1982. Ich bin begeistert.

Die erste große Liebe und ich glaube sogar der erste Rum in Fassstärke den ich je probiert habe. Diese süße Cremigkeit, hölzerne Töne gepaart mit Vanille und ordentlich Marzipan. Sehr mundfüllend, Alkohol perfekt eingebunden und langer Abgang. 1982 ist zwar nicht Ultra komplex und fruchtig, aber das möchte man bei solch einer alten Abfüllung auch nicht zwingend. Der Geschmack bestätigt die Nase und das Holz rundet die Sache in einer positiven Art ab ohne bitter zu werden. Grandiose Abfüllung, wer kann, sollte ihn probieren und bestenfalls aus einer frisch geöffneten Flasche.

Další velké překvapení. Jedná se o velmi starý kousek, přesto není plný dřeva. Přijemný intenzivní a komplexní nos, který doručí klasické long pond tóny, ale také náznáky technický prvků trinidadu. Chuť plná, krémová, uklidněné ovoce, náznaky zemitých tónů a velmi dlouhý závěr.
