Fine Drams Hampden 1489 Trelawny Jamaica DOK
Give it an hour in the glass and it opens into one of the loudest noses you'll meet — glue, acetone, overripe banana, pineapple, cut grass. This is unaged white Hampden DOK at full DOK ester load: 69%, bone dry, astringent, with a bitter edge on the finish. Several tasters call the neat pour "hart" (harsh) but love it in a daiquiri.
The community says- Huge ester nose
- Great for daiquiris
- But: Very hot neat

How does Fine Drams Hampden 1489 Trelawny Jamaica DOK taste?
Aggregated from 40 community reviews.
Bone-dry Hampden ester bomb, built for daiquiris A high-ester bruiser people find intensely fun, mostly for mixing. A few note it runs a touch one-dimensional and the alcohol could be better integrated; some rate white Rum Fire higher.

Tip: please give the rum at least an hour to acclimatize and show its full potential.on the nose an absolute explosion, I think I've never smelled something more intense🤣 passion fruit, mint, freshly cut grass, granny smith apples, vanilla marshmallows, a good load of ester and funk.... fantastic!in the taste it then completely slays you here caution is called for... if you go for it but another explosion of passion fruit, molasses, grass and nutmeg and green pepper. super exciting!🔥🇯🇲🔥🇯🇲🔥 certainly makes a gigantic daiquiri that catapults you to the moon!☢️🚀🇯🇲By the way, this is probably one of the best daiquiris you can make!🤤😜 incredibly complex and delicious!

That's a bruiser, that takes no prisoners. Had this in a blind tasting and first thought of a Clairin, but in the end it was very different. Cannot imagine to drink a bottle of it pure, but it is very interesting nonetheless, should go very well in Cocktails. I already added a good amount of water to temper the alcohol burn (worked slightly and brought some fruitier and sweeter notes), and I assume it could take even more water.

Roller coaster ride of the rums. This is like a hit in the face with an ester drenched fist right between the eyes.

#7 RumXCalendar Blind tasting: N: Fruity ester (overriped banana, pineapple), solvents, nail polish, strong, dry M: spicy, passion fruit, papaya, overripe, banana, funky F: young wood, banana, astringend Prediction: sound like a classic young jamaican (not a hampden or worthy park) maybe a crazy mhboa, approx. 60%…. I was close 😅 This time need time to fully open, at minimum 1 hour. The alcohol is strongly present! Nose: fruity ester, nail polish, solvents, funky, strong, pineapple, banana, fresh, honey, sugarcane Mouth: Dry, strong, astringend, funky, solvents, ester, overriped bananas/fruits, papaya, passion fruit, spicy Finish: dry, astringend, bitter, young wood, floral banana

#4273 30.09.2023 This is a really nice DOK actually and I think the price is pretty good. Fresh and fruity with esters and glue notes. The palate is dry and fruity and warms you pretty well. The finish is very long and warm with some dried fruit. Overall OK balance between the flavours. ABV could have been integrated a bit better.

RumX-Adventskalender, 7.12., blind. Schon beim Einschecken kein Zweifel, hier fliest Hampden ins Glas.

RumX advent calendar, 7.12., blind. First impression: clearly Hampden and clearly high ester and alcohol content, easily around 70%. Not so much in the whites. So a C<>H or even a DOK? Fits 🤗 Nose: Ester and more ester. Fine glue with lots of solvent. Clearly vinegar, fruit vinegar. Fresh fruitiness in the direction of tangerine/lemon and fine, sweet and sour pineapple. Also almond notes and a hint of fermented strawberry. Palate: alcoholic warmth and a creamy texture. Speaks for a high ABV. Pure ester again! Initially astringent and slightly bitter, then the sweetness turns to marzipan and pineapple. The fine bitter note, the pineapple and a little fermented strawberry at the very end remain in the finish. I've never had a white DOK before. Hard on its own, great for mixing.

A full load of esters and fruit on the nose!!! On the palate there is a slight woody and bitter spicy note... the alcohol is relatively well integrated despite the obviously high ABV... the finish is pleasant and of medium length... delicious

In comparison with RX12768: strangely more “ashtray” for some reason that I don’t really associate with DOK. Alcohol more present and therefor less fresh and more bitter. Gluey ester taste explosions. Now time to use the rest of the two samples in one hell of a daiquiri 😋🍸

Crystal clear.. the ring on the surface seems really thick!! Nose: oh boy..just opening it, you get TONS of funky note, overripe bananas, jackfruit, along with a grassy note to it..then acetone and glue..God it smell sooooo good! There is also sweeter note in the background, almost like chocolate..interesting! Mouth: yeah, definitely esters, lots of fruits (same as the nose, maybe a touch of pineapple), although not particularly “fatty”.. very astringent and warm, but still sweeter that the typical Jamaican ester bombs! I still sense that chocolate note, that mellows the acetone and glue. Nice

The 7th RX Advent sample is a proper high-ester firecracker. Fermented fruit and solvents in the foreground. There is also some wood and floral notes. Just under 70 ABV are very well integrated.

RumX Adventskalender 7.12.21 Bin hier blind bei Hampden. Esterbombe😋 tolle Nase, langer Abgang.
