Appleton Signature Blend
Honey, vanilla and a peppery bourbon-like spice run through this 4-year Appleton blend, with just a hint of Jamaican funk poking through. One taster nailed it as "very honey tasting," another as "orange peel with slight hint of molasses." Most agree it's thin and light neat, but shines in a Mai Tai or with cola. An easy, wallet-friendly first Jamaican.

How does Appleton Signature Blend taste?
Aggregated from 132 community reviews.
Light, honeyed entry Jamaican for mixing A go-to entry Jamaican and mixer — honey, vanilla and spice that carry into cocktails. The catch: thin and watery neat, and the spice reads as bourbon to some who dislike it.

Review by Stefan Persson
Bought me a bottle of this rum in Nerja, Spain. It’s a blend, as the name says, of rum aged at least for four years. Overall a much to thin/weak rum in my opinion. The nose is mostly fruity with scents of citrus. At the palate it’s balanced, sweet, fruity, spicy and a little woody with flavors of honey, citrus, orange , apricot, peach, vanilla and cinnamon. The finish is rather short and a little smoky.

Bar Nationale in Thessaloniki. Dieser Appleton Estate ist quasi derselbe Rum wie der Angostura. Auch hier haben wir vor allem Vanille und Karamell in der Nase und am Gaumen. Am Gaumen ist er zusätzlich dann noch sehr würzig.

Good entry level Jamaican with an outstanding price. With this rum my love for Mai Tai has started back then seven years ago.

This is a great rum for a Mai Tai and here's my recipe. Appleton Estate Signature Curacao Orange Liquer Fresh lime juice Maple syrup Almond syrup To spice it up a bit you can add some Rhum Agricole.

Beautiful intense nose. But unfortunately the taste is very watered down and too weak.

Disappointingly subtle Jamaican hogo, but very smooth and buttery for its price point. Fairly light/easy drinking. Very little alcoholic harshness. An excellent rum overall, especially at the price.

Now I have to break a lance here! The rum is of course nothing to drink pure, BUT it is the absolute hammer as a food addition, e.g. - muesli - fruit salad/yoghurt - muffin Add 2cl at a time and that's it. So the points refer to the application :-)

Very full-bodied with a very long finish. Smells very different to how it actually tastes. Very interesting, especially on the nose.

Very honey tasting

They call it spicy but to me this spice taste is what I don't like. It's that bourbon flavor I hate.
Review by Kay Schmidtke
Lecker.

Tasted 30-09-2016 This original blend was a solid mixer rum and balanced on flavours . A bit like ronseal does exactly what it says on the tin , personally prefer the new blend but prefer the presentation of this bottle.

Read full review →It doesn't shy away when mixed. At the price point it certainly offers more flavour and complexity than most entry level rums. Another bonus is it is easily available in the UK supermarkets so maybe next time your doing the weekly shop, instead of the Lambs, Morgans or Sailor Jerry...
