Rhum J.M Blanc
Fresh-cut cane, wet grass and a squeeze of lime lead the way, with pepper and a faint salty-earthy edge underneath. It runs lighter than its 50% suggests, and stays fairly simple on the cane. Several tasters find it a touch smoother than most white agricoles neat, but the real love shows up once it hits a Ti' Punch or daiquiri.

A somewhat underrated white rum, given its price, balance and long aftertaste. More than anything, it's rare to have a multi-varietal white with this harmony of spice flavors that leans toward the high-quality side rather than joining the many bland, unworked expressions intended for the average person who doesn't care about craftsmanship and is just looking for a good way to get drunk. Really good value for money, and hats off to J.M. for sticking to quality even when it's not strictly necessary for most consumers in this range of rums.

No more than that.

In nose it’s fruity, grassy and spicy. On the palate it’s the same and I can recognize banana, citrus, ginger, nutmeg and sugar cane flavors The rather long finish goes in the same direction. Overall a very smooth Agricole Blanc, not very demanding. Maybe a good entry to the world of Agricole Blanc.

#4473 18.11.2023 Wow, this is a really nice, intense and fresh rum. Fruity and floral from pouring. Love the citrus and freshness. Very long and warm finish with a citrus touch. Good as a sipper but probably even better in a mixer.

On nose this Rhum reminds me Georgian chacha, but on palate it's much smoother and less alcoholic, despite 50% ABV. This Rhum goes great for classic Daiquiri.
Review by TheJackDrop
A pleasant, approachable white to start with, perhaps agricultural. Unfortunately, the 50 degrees don't last long on the palate, and the profile is rather simple on the cane and a hint of saltiness.

In contrast to the other candidates in the crosstasting, I perceive earthy flavors and a bit of stickiness here, it is the least sweet on the palate, perhaps even slightly bitter. I don't really like it neat. But in Ti Punch it's a stunner! It's more "capped" than the others, which is probably due to the few floral aromas, but it's more complex: apple, banana, the kind of spiciness you get from pepper, a great mouthfeel and a great rum for this cocktail. 9.1/10 points.

The nose has lots of strong fermented notes with honey and sugarcane. Fresh lemon peel is also present. The palate keeps all the fermented notes from the nose but it's also joined by dark earthy notes. The lemon peel has turned into a bit hit of citrus, a little more pears and lemons than just the peel. The finish becomes quite peppery and has some subtle white grape to it. Overall, this is a great introduction to Rhum agricole.

Nase: Typischer Agricol mit pflanzlich/grasigen Noten und Zuckerrohr. Leicht (zitrus-)fruchtig.

What to say about this rum... It's strong at first but becomes softer with every sip. Personally, I prefer to drink it in a little punch. It lacks a bit of character for my taste, but it remains a pleasant rum to sip.

A fruity rum. A length shortened by its roundness.

So far this style is not for me. My friend tasted anise.
Review by TheTobias
A not very complex Agricole Blanc with very dominant green notes (green pepper, grass). Unfortunately I can hardly find fruity notes. I got also little spicy-smoky notes. All in all solid but not very intesting rum.

Zapach: gruszka, brzoskwinia, mandarynki, pestki owocowe, świeża trzcina, słodycz, kwiaty, rozpuszczalnik, gotowany ananas, mięta Smak: ostry, rozgrzewający, liczi, banan, gruszka, migdały, kwiaty, zioła, trawiasty, ziemisty, trzcina, biały grejpfrut, wanilia, ciasto babka drożdżowa, przyprawy, majaczące z tyłu czarne oliwki

Very good but not as good as the Neisson and only sold at 70 cl in our area, while Neisson comes in 1 L.
Review by Alan Bertoli

Review by Peter Bosel
First impressions was that this tastes a lot like Rakija (Balkan spirit distilled from plum/grape). This was a bit surprising, but revisits revealed more of the sugarcane.
Review by Henry Davies
Nose is classical agricole with grass and vegetal notes, and some sweeter honied notes. The mouth is surprisingly smooth and refined for a white agricole, fruity and sugar cane. It actually works as a sipping rum while many would not. Excellent cocktail mixing rum if looking for this type of profile. Finish is dry and herbal, medium length and makes your want to come back for more. For the price point and what it is setting out to achieve it is a great white cocktail rhum.

Read full review →Making it a little dangerous! It's reasonably complex and its certainly a very competent and enjoyable white agricole. It could perhaps be a bit more vivid and punchy but it has enough to entertain and it becomes surprisingly addictive. Almost very good but not quite. Just missing maybe a bit...
