Habitation Velier Port Mourant White 2015
Most people know Port Mourant as a dark, aged Demerara — so an unaged white version throws you. No cask means the raw distillate is naked: varnish and solvent, green apple and peach, black tea, pepper, and a genuinely smoky, earthy streak one taster likened to autumn leaves. At 59% the alcohol sits surprisingly well. "One of the most interesting whites out there," as a few put it — but it's a weird, savory ride.

#21st dec RumXCalendar Blind tasting: Nose: varnish, polish, green apple, peaches, earthy, smoky, anise Mouth: complex, molasses, earthy, black tea, grapefruit, peppery, woody?? Finish: mid long, molasses, bitter, varnish, menthol, smoky, mango, fruity My prediction: This could be from Guyana PM and i think I already had this in glass ca. 60%

The HV PM white had to be compared to the Underdog Split #2. Somehow earthy on the nose or a bit like autumn leaves on the ground, I also thought of sourdough. Pretty wacky. I don't have the familiar PM markers like olive (especially with the continental ones) here at all. But surprisingly round on the palate. The ABV is well integrated.

RumX Day21: Blind: Was here more with the Ghana White, of course again missed 😁! I really like the PM, a concise nose, alcohol very well integrated and complex on the palate! The is really "quaffable"!

RumX-Adventskalender 2022: angenehmer unaged PM. Viel Lack/ Lösungsmittel und unterschiedliche tropische Früchte. Daneben viele pflanzliche und erdige Aromen, fast etwas modrig. Alkohol perfekt eingebunden.

The second bottle that arrived today and I rarely get in touch with good white rums. This one is a great white rum well worth the price tag and I can definitely recommend that people give it a chance.

Very interesting to see the PM characteristics in an unaged bottling. Honestly, I think this unaged version is more enjoyable than some more recent younger continentally aged PM bottlings. Cheers to Stylo for sharing his bottle. 🙌

Advent calendar 21 se RumX, very sulphurous nose, peppery mouth, aniseed and vegetal, not so much my taste!

Now I know why I'm not a fan of port mourant... No wonder when the unripened version already tastes like licorice, nutmeg, musty burnt wood, eucalyptus tea and sulfurous raisins 😂 Wacky stuff but I don't need it again! Alcohol surprisingly well integrated!

Here we have one true premiere..when it was bottled and sold, I had no idea that a White Port Mourant even existed..the nose is indeed grassy and green, although I do sense a slightly burnt, roasted flavor, along with some pepper. The fruits are more on the background (I get apple and pineapple). The palate is interesting, more savory and peppery, with more grassy and earthy notes. The finish is slightly smoky, with hints of wet paint.

Erinnert mich irgendwie an Zirbenkieferschnaps.

Rum X Advent 21.12.22 Blind, this rum was a special journey and difficult to categorize. I had no idea. Only when the glass was empty did the PM scents come to me.

Class here to have a white PM in the glass. Great complexity, alcohol well integrated and no wood furniture storage (sorry S.B.S😄)if I now think that in Guyana still Jamaica-like High Ester Rums slumber, then I hope that the hundredth request may sometime bring forth another treasure. ☺️

For 59% it comes across very mild. Unfortunately I only have a 2cl sample, not enough to test it in a cocktail.

A very aromatic and pleasant white. A good experience to taste this unaged PM to understand what leads to the peculiarities of the old.

RumXmas 2022, #21, blind: I have a little bit of experience with unaged rums, but little to none with unaged Guyana, what I believe that this is. The profile reminds me of a 2 year old PM that I have at home (RX12656) so the HV that is mentioned by Serge could fit. I know that S.B.S has released a couple of unaged PM’s as well, but I haven’t tasted any of them. So @Serge, I’m on your team today 💯🥳

Reminds me very much of a mixture of 2001 Skeldon and 2003 Savelle, the latter especially from the sweetness, only that here the storage is missing and thus especially the alcohol is much more present.
