Quite dry Caroni. Typical associations of tar and rubber, a good portion of smoke and accentuated spices join the tart notes from the barrel and dark chocolate. A quite acceptable representative of the 1999 vintage, but clearly not enough for the Caroni top class.

Nice dirty 99 Caroni with a really nice complex fruity spicy nose, but a bit one dimensional on the palate and the alcohol integration could be much better. For me a bit one-dimensional and unbalanced.

Pleasant Caroni nose with typical, dirty notes. A little menthol. Really fun! Quite dry on the palate and the alcohol could be better integrated. The fruity notes on the nose unfortunately disappear completely on the palate.

This is a very nice release and also a very limited one. The nose is wonderfully Caroni with tar, rubber and smoky wood. Once rested fruit and leather notes appear. The nose is kind of sweet and well balanced. The palate takes off where the nose ends. Tar, rubber and smoky wood trailed by tobacco, caramel and pineapple and a light touch of leather. A nicely balanced rum. The finish is long and with smoky wood and fruits. Would have loved a full bottle instead of a sample :-)

As always with John and Hubert, the word balance is in order... this Caroni is very well balanced, on more gourmet, pastry notes and that while keeping the robust character of the heavy rum Caroni... A very nice success... really, this Caroni is like a good friend. A big manly tap on the shoulder followed by a warm company!

... Caroni je destilerie z Trinidadu, produkujici v dobe sve nejvetsi slavy rum, ktery se pridaval v pomeru 1:10 do namornickeho blendu. Byl totiz moc vyrazny a divny nez aby byl prijemny na jazyku. V roce 2000 destilerka skoncila s produkci a byla uzavrena. Az v roce 2010 se objevili degustatori, kteri si rum oblibili prave pro jeho specialni chut. A zajem rostl. Caroni patri do kategorie rumu "you need to try before you die". Doporucuji, Caroni je opravdu unikatni rum.

On a droit à un nez bien complexe comme Caroni sait si bien le faire. C’est un profil du service maintenance de Shell : du cuir, de la colle, du goudron, du caoutchouc … mais mielleux à la fois ! C’est cela que l’on aime chez Caroni, c’est déroutant car on associe des arômes atypiques des autres distilleries avec du joli fruité (fruits rouges). Et que l’on aime ou pas, cela ne laisse pas indifférent. A tout cela, on peut rajouter un léger boisé, du chocolat et des épices poivrées. L’attaque en bouche est franche, c’est chaleureux voir un peu trop vigoureux. Les touche dirty se ressentent.

grand caroni, même si moins hype parce que pas vellier, très complexe, plein de goudron, notes empyreumatiques, vraiment ce qui fait un caroni être un caroni, objectivement impressionnant
