Savanna Grand Arôme - Série kraft 2007
Strawberry chewing gum, glue-like solvents and fermented apple hit first, backed by banana, brine and a green olive edge. This is Savanna's Grand Arôme in full — high-ester, fruity, a little sour and vinegary. One reviewer calls it a "fruity bonbon," another a fun, funky dram. A few note the body runs thin and the finish turns slightly bitter.

Aromen von Lösungsmitteln, vergorenem Apfel und Trauben mit leichter Fenchnote prägen die Nase, ergänzt durch Banane und Pfeffer. Am Gaumen dominieren vergleichbare Esterfrucht, leicht säuerliche Töne und ein zügiger Kick. Einige finden den Körper etwas dünn, dennoch vermittelt der Rum eine beeindruckende Savanna Intensität. Überzeugt durch klare Grand Arome Handschrift und Stil.

8,4:On the nose, esters, solvents, burnt rubber, fermented strawberry, banana, some vinegar, flowery, vegetal cane with an olive, smoky, roasted wood notes with nuts, pastry, toffee and dark chocolate, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the fruits are rotten, the smell is pungent, citrus, apple, raspberry join, some allspice. 8,4:On the palate, the attack is heavy, pungent with esters, burnt rubber, fermented, rotten fruits like strawberry, banana, apple, later join some dried fruits with currants, vegetal cane with briny olive, flowery, grassy, as the wood is burnt, roasted, smoky with BBQ, roasted nuts, dark chocolate, spicy.On oxidation, the rum becomes slightly astringent, bitter, menthol hints might be present. 8,3:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, warm, as musty, grassy cane, vegetal with briny olive, pairs roasted wood notes, smoky, spicy and burnt rubber, plastic, tropical and red fruits, apples. Savanna ist aufgrund ihrer enormen Bandbreite an unterschiedlichen Stilen eine meiner liebsten Destillerien und das Grand Arôme-Profil mag ich dabei besonders gerne. Neben den gewohnt fruchtig ausgeprägten Estern zeigt sich im Mund auch eine etwas stärkere, aber mich nicht weiter störende, Säuerlichkeit. Im Nachgeschmack wird es dann ein wenig bitter, aber ansonsten ist dies ein wirklich feiner und vielschichtiger Rum.

Savanna Is in the hype nowadays, back a couple of years was easy to get bottles at a fair price. This one is a single cask at an high abv. Apples, strawberry, but also some plastic notes, caucciù and vinyl, a really fun dram. The cognac cask is easy to notice on the nose while drinking is less noticeable

A great Savanna aroma typical but very successful.Fruity and woody nose with solvents that scent the room.In the mouth, it is fruity, overripe, almost fermented. It is also peppery. It is the end of mouth that this rum gives all its complexity with notes of olive and strawberries that make their way in the heat that remains in the mouth.A beautiful success.

On the nose, it is strongly reminiscent of the white HERR, which was also used as the base product. The fruity aromas dominate and are reminiscent of artificial chewing gum. On the palate, it is mainly acidic (fermented or vinegar), where the barrel ageing is clearly noticeable. Nevertheless, it is a little thin, so the finish is also very short.
