Appleton Jamaica Independence Reserve 1962
Vanilla and milk chocolate lead the nose, with cookie dough, orange peel and a surprising fresh, minty lift — one taster even found a beancurd-dessert note he'd never met in a rum. Fifty years of tropical aging brought huge depth but a thinner body than you'd expect, and plenty of wood by the finish. A once-in-a-lifetime pour, though a couple wished it were bottled hotter than 45%.

The look inside the bottle
How does Appleton Jamaica Independence Reserve 1962 taste?
Aggregated from 13 community reviews.
Deep, chocolatey 50-year Appleton, thin at 45% Those who've tried it call it a rare, deeply complex experience — the recurring gripe is the 45% ABV softening a rum this old, and the body runs thin.

Great rum with nice sweet nuts wood taste. But why 45%??? Its like when you put great sirup in glass of water
