Rum Nation Port Mourant Small Batch Rare Rums 1999

Guyana fans who love the classic Port Mourant wood-and-anise profile will find something extra here: a sherry finish that layers in dried plum, raisin and dark berries. Nose is the highlight for most — deep, spiced, floral. The palate leans dry, woody and spicy with coffee, tobacco and a firm bitterness. A few note the alcohol integration could be tighter, but at 57.4% it stays balanced.

Sherry-finished Port Mourant, dry and spicy Widely loved as one of the best non-Velier Port Mourants — sherry adds real depth over the classic wood and anise. A few find the bitterness or alcohol slightly unbalanced.

A wonderful Port Mourant. A nose to sink into, dangerous drinking flow despite complex aromas. One of my absolute favorite rums. The nose is very mature, spicy, slightly herbaceous. Cardboard, aniseed and sage. The fruit is very dry and ripe, after raisiny sherry still some dried plums and crumbly, dark yellow, slightly spiced baked apple. The sherry comes through more clearly in the mouth, the fruit recedes even further. Wood, wet wood, aniseed - very Port Mourant, without this yellow fruitiness and also without this partly maritime saltiness. Instead, some bitter coffee, tobacco. Alcohol integration could be a little better. The palate unfortunately falls somewhat short of the phenomenal nose. The attack is long with already integrated tannins. An excellent rum

One of my favorite PMs in terms of price-performance ratio. The sherry finish gives the rum a depth reminiscent of 75 PMs.

Retasting with the guys from RumX. ------ This one is intense, fruity and naturally sweet with some caramel and light spices. The palate is dry and spicy/warm. I don't get the cola note, but in the empty glass i can pick up some sherry and coffee.

In the nose muted fruity aromas of currant and cherry but also light citrus note, most likely tangerine. In addition, but also caramel, distantly reminiscent of cola, but seems quite fresh, slightly woodyOn the palate, this ingenious flavor development: from slightly bitter to fresh fruity to sweet-woody, dark chocolate is also there. In the finish remains tangerine, nice woodA really great drop, even if it can not keep up with the Veliers...

For me, the best continental aged Port Mourant to date. Far from thin and "top-heavy". The profile is remotely reminiscent of the El Dorado 15, but without its weaknesses.

Solid PM, nice complexity and balance. Dry and slight spicyness, plus dark fruits. Sherry influence works well with the distillate. Yummy!
