Velier Clarendon Warren Khong Villa Paradisetto MMW 2007
Rum drinkers already deep into Jamaican Monymusk will feel at home here: nail polish and ripe fruit on the nose, then an oily, intense palate of banana, black pepper, anise and dry, slightly bitter oak, finishing long with a fresh menthol note. At 68.5% the alcohol bites early, so most tasters let it breathe an hour. One member calls it "another level" once it opens.

- Long minty finish
- Alcohol can cut

Very fruity „delicious“ in the nose. Super delicious intense in mouth with a super finish. The alcohol is integrated very well. This rum needs time to fully open! At least 1 hour Nose: fruity, some notes of banana, coconut, papaya, dried apricot, orange peal, oak, marzipan and the spicy :3 Mouth: It‘s a fully body of wood, anise, tobacco and some fruits. Very delicious. Finish: Long and minty with dominat notes of the barrel. Very Very good!

I'm a big fan of monymusk, and this one is no exception. Maybe a little too much spice, but it's very good. It needs a very long aeration to appreciate its full potential.

#4269 23.09.2023 Relaxing after small tasting and a double birthday. Movie and a good rum is never a bad idea. I like this one. Just needs to rest for a good while before giving it a go. I got the bottle pretty cheap in a bundle which is why I have it. The nose is fresh and fruity with nice floral notes and a light smoky touch. The palate is oily and intense with fruit and spices. There is also some solvents and earthy notes in the back. The finish is long and warm/spicy with wood, citrus and light solvents and menthol. Draws nice curtains in the glass and the empty glass has some dried fruit and herbal notes.

At the community tasting in Nuremberg, I was introduced to the world of Clarendon and learned to love it. For me, the differences between the 7 different bottlings were rather small. I liked them all. It was probably more due to the quantity that I couldn't really distinguish anything. I will taste them all again individually at my leisure.

barva tmavě zlata vůně jemná, ovocná, jamajský styl žádný chuť 68,5% je cítit, ovocná, typická Monymusk nahořklost v chuti už je Jamajka cítit

Delivers a nice thick and oily MM profile. However, it is very much on the opposite of „accessible“ 🤪

Pleasant fruity-spicy nose, almost a touch floral. The alcohol still cuts at the start. Have dried apricot up front and sweet-tart papaya, banana and tart pineapple behind. Then comes dry wood with a bit of tobacco. Some sulfur can be heard. On the palate, the 68% hits. Very astringent and intense. Bitter and spicy. Pepper, nutmeg and anise. But also nicely fruity with pineapple and banana. The sweetness is almost reminiscent of marzipan. The finish remains wood and banana. If the alcohol were better integrated, it would be even better.

I still have a hard time with Clarendon, but this MMW here could be a door opener for me. The alcohol is very well integrated and the wood is present, but not too intrusive. A beautifully harmonious distillate.

Time-consuming, lots of watts, but very complex and interesting!

Sehr lecker, aber der Alkohol könnte besser eingebunden sein.

Nose: For me on the nose very vanilla, wood, solvent and fruity, banana Very fruity on the palate, solvent, wood, slight bitterness and then a pleasant, not too intrusive menthol note.

Tasted during a nice round. A beautiful Clarendon with plenty of power. The almost 70% is surprisingly well integrated. It's a lot of fun. I can also imagine it in a cocktail. Top! :)

Very fruity at the beginning with clear solvents and nail polish. In the mouth then very strong, spicy and hot and the alcohol could be a little better integrated, but it's only a few %. Still delicious and very exciting!
Review by Michal S
Very strong, the 68% alcohol is noticeable. The aroma is dominated by wood, orange peel and solvents. The palate then takes on pungent and bitter notes (pepper). I recommend leaving it in the glass for at least half an hour and adding a few drops of water, the rum will then open up a little.

A small Monymusk comparison. Velier Monymusk 2007: Difficult to access, with fruit and very spicy. Very simple. Somewhat spicy. Quite tasty, but nothing that calls for a re-tasting. Second tasting: -4 points Habitation Monymusk 2010: Woody, spicy, fruity. The alcohol is very well integrated The rum is very well balanced and is fun with every sip! Second tasting: = points

A rum that needs time to be fully appreciated. If you know how to wait and taste it calmly it can give you some surprises!
Review by Leo Krüper
Heavy monymusk. Suits the cold season. Not particularly complex. Alcohol well integrated.
