Bayou Select Rum
Made in Louisiana, this drinks more like a bourbon than most rums — dried figs, raisins and vanilla on the nose, then wood, maple and caramel on the palate. One taster caught "unbuttered toasted brown bread" and a leathery edge. Easy and sweet, but the finish is short and a few found it a touch stale and boring.

How does Bayou Select Rum taste?
Aggregated from 29 community reviews.
Soft, sweet bourbon-like sipper, short finish Splits people: some enjoy this soft, caramel-and-fig sipper, others find it dull, too sweet and short on the finish. Pleasant but not memorable.

A little sharp in the aroma but nice and smooth in the taste. Slightly sweet and mega spicy. Not so much aftertaste

Karamellig, Vanille und eine leichte Ahornnote. Alkohol nicht optimal eingebunden, etwas zu süßlich und leicht abgestanden

A fine discovery A light, easy-drinking rum, but not without interest, In addition to caramel and vanilla, there's some dried fruit, fig and redcurrant... pretty cool. Too bad the finish is short!

It's a very sweet rum that I really like! The caramel and woodiness really stand out! A very nice little rum
Review by Decky Hicks Doughty
A quite rounded nose. Mixed dried fruits; figs, raisins and cherries. Popcorn, vanilla and coffee in the background. Similar to a bourbon. The palate is more wood dominant than on the nose. Maple, vanilla and raisin keep things sweet. The finish is medium in length. Kind of reminds me of unbuttered toasted brown bread. A bit leathery too. Overall it's okay. Not unpleasant but also not something I'd immediately buy if on offer. A bit too boring.

Read full review →Bayou is very much its own man. I can't really think of many rums it compares to. It's probably closest to a Demerara such as Woods or OVD but it has a very distinctive profile which means you wouldn't mistake it for such a rum. A rum which you would...
