NY High Ester blind tasting with JNY20, JNY19, JNY15, JNE16, and TWJ 2009. At first, a very restrained nose that becomes noticeably more intense over time. On the palate, oily/creamy with a perfumed start, which clearly sets this bottling apart from the others for me. Ranked right at the top.

Basically another nice and very good New Yarmouth from 2005. Unfortunately tasted together with the S.b.s New Yarmouth 2005. Compared to that, it unfortunately doesn't stand a chance. Feels a bit thin in comparison. But overall a great drop.

Nice funky nose with lots of tropical fruits and some cookie dough on the nose. However not quite as vibrant as some 09ers I had recently. Same marker on the palate. Nice profile which ticks all the NY boxes.

A nose of glue and varnish, dominated by fresh fruit. On the palate, the opposite is true, with fruit dominating over varnish and solvents. The finish is rather short and a little acqueous. In the empty glass, peppery and spicy notes emerge, previously absent.

Nicely balanced NY05. Tropical fruits (primarily mango and pineapple) and varnish/glue dominate this rum as expected. Lovely buttery notes that turn into cookie dough. Alcohol? – really perfectly integrated!

Un joli New Yarmouth qui, comme souvent avec l’année 2005, combine intensité et subtilité avec brio. Le nez est hyper intense, très funky sur les esters, la colle et les solvants, mais présente aussi une facette très beurrée, pâtissière et marquée par l’amande et le massepain. Le fruité est très perceptible, notamment les fruits jaunes exotiques bien mûrs. Un nez riche, gras et généreux. L’attaque en bouche est intense avec un beau fruité jaune et exotique (ananas, banane, mangue) et un funk marqué sur la colle, les esters et le vernis. On perçoit également la douceur avec l’amande et le beurre pâtissier. C’est un profil un peu brut mais qui s’estompe assez rapidement au palais, comme une sensation d’inachevé en bouche (peut-être que la dilution y est pour quelque chose). L’alcool est très bien intégré. La finale est de longueur moyenne, sèche, amère, tannique et pas aussi marquée que le nez et le palais. Légèrement plus boisé, le profil gagne en rondeur avec ses notes de beurre et de pâte à biscuit, et pourtant les fruits et le funk sont toujours bien marqués (colle, esters, vernis). Un New Yarmouth très gouleyant à qui il manque un peu de longueur pour tutoyer les sommets.

On the nose: Esters and glue notes dominate the nose profile. After sitting in the glass for a good 30 minutes you get almond notes, somekind of pastry notes and maybe yellow fruits in the background. Taste: I get sweetness up front from pastry note. Then you get esters, glue notes and solvents. Fruity notes come in the end and they are a little bit sour. Easy and approachable on intensity level. Good integration of alcohol. Finish:Esters and glue notes. Little bit of citrus notes. Acidic Give this rum some time in the glass and it will open up. Leaning more towards pastry notes and glue notes while fruity are more in the background. I think its good, but doesn't really stand out. The finish could have been better. Since i don't have much experience on New Yarmouth rums, the reseach continues.

NY wie man ihn erwartet … alles da: Gebäck, Mandel, Klebstoff, Lösungsmittel, Ananas, Tropische Frucht, Butter. Evtl. etwas sauer. Unverständlich ist mir die Reduktion auf 55% … mit etwas mehr ABV wäre er mir lieber. Evtl. War er etwas zu bissig und man hat versucht mit der Reduktion etwas zu kaschieren. Trotzdem super, ich liebe dieses Profil.

Nose is heavy on solvents, glue and butter dough. The palate gets overtaken by fresh fruits and the solvents take a backseat. Finish is rather short but Inlike the overall development, enjoyable dram.

Kleines 2005 New Yarmouth Cross Tasting - November 2025: Sehr fruchtige Nase, mit Ananas und Banane, gepaart mit Klebstoff, Mandel und Keksteig. Angenehme Säure am Gaumen, aber etwas zu kurzer Abgang und insgesamt etwas dünn. Damit war es der schwächste 2005er heute.

Petit sample du jeudredi 🔥🥃 CDI New Yarmouth 2005 – 55% On part ici sur du très, très sérieux. Un New Yarmouth distillé en 2005, 12 ans de fût (JNY19), embouteillé par CDI en 2017… et ça se sent dès le premier nez. 💥 Au nez : c’est une claque. Résine, acidité, fruits ultra mûrs… presque trop. Puis arrivent la colle, le caramel, la vanille. C’est dense, concentré, extrême. Clairement pas là pour faire dans la dentelle. 💥 En bouche : on reste dans cette intensité brute. Attaque franche, profil plus lourd, moins charmeur que le nez. Herbacé, médicinal… ça secoue. 🔥 La finale : interminable, déroutante, empyreumatique, épicée à l’excès. Une vraie expérience sensorielle. 👉 Verdict : un monstre. Pas pour les palais timides. Perso, gros coup de cœur sur le nez… mais la bouche me parle moins. Et en 2005 ? Désolé, mais pour moi il reste derrière le SBS 67.2% 😏

Schöne leichte Nase, geprägt von Ester, Klebstoff, Butter, reifer Ananas.Am Gaumen schöne reife fruchtige Noten, durchzogen von leichten pfeffrigen, holzigen und esterlastigen Noten. Der Abgang leider sehr kurz. Mir persönlich fehlt ihr der gewisse Punch und für mich ein bisschen zu sehr verdünnt. Trotzdem lecker und sehr zugänglich.
