CDI New Yarmouth Jamaica (Bottled for Denmark) 2005
Nearly everyone who tries this loves it, with only a couple wishing for more cask influence or a bit more aging. It's a loud, high-ester New Yarmouth: overripe pineapple, banana and mango piled on top of glue and solvent, with caramel and honey underneath. At 64% the alcohol is warm but mostly well tucked in. The wood shows late, drier and slightly tannic on a very long finish.

caramelized banana, vanilla pudding, marzipan, honey brioche, mango and maraschino cherry on the nose. overall much "darker" than the 12. then some peach iced tea, nutmeg, mango and kumquat jam and salty brioche with marzipan and caramel on the palate. the finish is rather dark chocolate, almonds and rather furry and not as funky & fruity creamy as its 12 year old colleague. also more wood and tannins noticeable in the 13 compared to the 12!

Intense New Yarmouth with a distinctive ester profile. Ripe tropical fruit and spices on the nose, pineapple, banana and a hint of bitterness on the palate. The aroma is clear and focused, with a powerful, lasting finish.

9,2:On the nose, medicinal with esters, glue and solvents, overripe tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, candied fruits, cherry, toasted wood notes like marzipan, caramel, pastry, spicy with allspice, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, molasses is vegetal with olive, fermented dairy hints, buttery, arise, mango and papaya, bubble gum hints and vanilla. 9:On the palate, the attack is medicinal with esters, glue, rubber, bicycle tube, funky, chemical, fruity with fermented tropical fruits like banana and pineapple, mango, green and citrus fruits, marmalade like, later candied, vinegar hints, molasses is vegetal with olive, grassy, floral and the wood brings toasted notes like caramel, pastry, spicy, warm with allspice, vanilla, smoky, slightly meaty. 9,1:The finish is long, dry&tannic, medicinal, chemical, funky, slightly furry with toasted oak notes like nuts, cocoa, pastry, marzipan, spicy, smoky, fruity with tropical, citrus fruits and molasses is vegetal, grassy with hay.

Nen echt geiler NY05 (wobei ich bisher keinen schlechten im Mund hatte) Super viel Tropische Früchte und Ester/ Lack. Gebäck/ Keksteig sind aber weniger ausgeprägt als bei den anderen Abfüllungen. Holz und Gewürze leicht wahrzunehmen

Herber, leicht muffig, leicht schwefelig wie knallmunition, getrocknete tropische Früchte, Gutes mundgefühl, alkohol bemerkbar aber gut integriert. Vanillige und tropische früchte, ordentlich ester. Hat schon diese starke ny-charakteristik die etwas brachiales hat mit viel power. Mit wasser etwas cremiger und weicher. eine tolle Komplexität, wenn man etwas wartet bis sich die primäre „Lautstärke“ des Rums sich etwas gelegt hat. Langer Abgang mit einer feinen Cremigkeit aber auch ordentlich Würze und Überreife der tropischen Früchte.

Truly surprising! This rum screams Jamaica all over it! Tons of almost-rotten fruits (banana, pineapple and mango) well mixed with light glue and vanilla. On the finish i sense fruit jam and a touch of almond. Another wonderful release by CDI..I just wish that these gems will be distributed more frequently also here in Italy!

Yeah… I’m probably a bit too drunk for this now. But we were mixing things and this sample came up. It’s way too good to be mixing, so we had it neat. This is some killer stuff. Would probably buy a case of it if I could…. And use maybe one bottle for mixing 😅

22-03-2025 - Rate 8.9 Really good New Yarmouth. Nose and plate is fantastic. Good integration of rum and ABV 02-08-2026 - 8.9 Tasted again after long time. Still a funky rum full of Jamaica power and fruit.

Compagnie des Indes a frappé fort avec cette cuvée spéciale pour le Danemark. On a une énorme concentration aromatique au nez : un déluge de fruits tropicaux, de l’ananas à la banane en passant par la mangue et la papaye qui apportent une gourmandise incroyable. On a de très belles notes pâtissières sur le caramel, le toffee, les biscuits et les viennoiseries. Le funk médicinal et esterisé est puissant mais très élégant, s’accompagnant parfaitement avec les autres arômes. Mention honorable aux épices (cannelle, piment, vanille) qui agrément ce profil ultra savoureux. C’est une énorme frappe aromatique en bouche avec une avalanche de fruits bien mûrs : ananas, banane, mangue et agrumes se succèdent et décorent le palais de leur exotisme. On retrouve les notes pâtissières, plus fermentaires mais très rondes et en soutien du profil avec les épices. Les esters, la colle et les solvants donnent du caractère et subliment le palais de leurs notes médicinales. L’alcool est parfaitement intégré. Un New Yarmouth expressif, riche et tout en finesse, du grand art. La finale est superbe, funky, complexe, sèche et intense. Le fruité est moins présent pour laisser place à de belles notes d’amande, de massepain et de pâtisseries qui se combinent parfaitement avec les notes médicinales. Un New Yarmouth complet, expressif, tout en finesse et qui ravira les amateurs de cette référence, du grand art.

A very nice Jamaican from New Yarmouth. Lots of fruit and spices on the nose, plus the characteristic cookie dough aroma. Even more fruit on the palate, banana, pineapple and mango, the complete Jamaican palette. Plus a sour citrus note and sweet hints of honey, caramel and syrup. I like the nose a little better than the taste. Overall, it's a lot of fun, even if it can't hold a candle to its one year younger brother!

High Ester NY: grilled pineapple, yellow fruit, not dissimilar to Hampden, but somehow different. Pleasant light acidity, strongly astringent and a very long finish. The alcohol could be a little better integrated, but if the rum is allowed to breathe sufficiently, this is not a problem. The only question that remains: Why isn't more of this bottled?

A full load of esters and fermented pineapple on the nose! On the palate, initially sweet and fruity (fermented pineapple)... then becoming spicy, slightly peppery and bitter, the finish feels furry and dry! A note of young wood develops! A good rum... but could have been left a little longer

The nose is outstanding. It explodes in fruits, spices, cherrylike notes with a hint of glue. The taste is initially like light caramel and honey the takes a U-turn to cherrry sorbet and then again sets off to mango/flower world. It all end up with a looooooong finish of medicinal character and a well integrated warming alcohol. One og the best rum we’ve had so far.
