Velier Chelo Clairin Sajous 2013
Drinkers already curious about raw, unaged cane spirit are the right audience here. This Haitian clairin is crystal-clear and wild: fresh sugarcane, hay, lemon peel, a herbal-vegetal streak and a distinct funky note one taster called "too much mushroom." Oily on the palate, spicy, with a long anise-citrus finish. At 53.5% the alcohol shows, and a couple of members found it hot and a touch watery.

I remember this slap in the face when I drank this rum a long time ago, almost 10 years ago, I think it was the moment when I realized the extent of the possibilities with white rum! Since then I can't get enough of it, a very wild side, as if you were in a stable with horses and oxen, a change of scenery, I think it's a Clairin character trait.

31.12. 2019 Last tasting of 2019 went into 2020. Celebrating with family and friends who like rum we ended up having a great party according to my notes. Notes. Transparent in colour. Nose: fresh, intense, fruit, herbs, polish, sugarcane, floral. Palate: Intense, spicy, oily, sugarcane, polish, citrus. Finish: long, spicy, citrus, anise.
