Velier Chelo Clairin Sajous 2013
Anyone curious what unaged Haitian cane spirit really tastes like should start here. It pours water-clear and comes out swinging: fresh-cut sugarcane, hay, lemon peel and a wild, almost barnyard streak — one member says it's like standing in a stable. At 53.5% it's oily and spicy with a long anise-tinged finish. Raw, vegetal and full of place.

Aggregated from 21 community reviews.
Wild, vegetal Haitian cane spirit, unaged Most tasters find it a vivid, characterful clairin that shows off its origin — the caveat being the alcohol isn't always tidily integrated, reading a touch hot and watery to a few.

I remember this slap in the face when I drank this rum a long time ago, almost 10 years ago, I think it was the moment when I realized the extent of the possibilities with white rum! Since then I can't get enough of it, a very wild side, as if you were in a stable with horses and oxen, a change of scenery, I think it's a Clairin character trait.

Very interesting, but a bit too much mushroom for me.
