A.H. Riise Royal Danish Navy Strength Rum
Sip it slow or pour it over dessert: this is the 55% version of A.H. Riise's Danish Navy, and the extra strength gives it more backbone than the 40%. Expect caramel, dark chocolate, orange peel and spice, all sitting on a big cushion of sugar. Several tasters call it the best of the range, but nearly everyone agrees it's still very sweet.

In contrast to the 40%, the intensity of the aromas has increased significantly. Wood and chocolate dominate the nose and palate. The sweetness is not quite as pronounced. In the finish, the lingering honey and light smoky notes are exciting.

Received as a bonus sample from Rhum Attitude, thanks for the fact that you get something like this in a plastic sample when you order high-quality rum. Unfortunately, I have no other opinion about the rum than that it is simply extremely sugary water with rum flavor. Typical extremely sweetened spirit drink. That's why I simply can't give it a good rating.

03.12.2025 Day 3 of my Christmas Calendar and I still really think it is too sweet. But slightly better than most of the other releases. ---------- I like that they let this one have a higher ABV but it's still not there yet. Still a sweet rum and I would have loved less sweetness and maybe a bit higher ABV.

Ein kräftiger und intensiver Rum, dem man den höheren Alkoholgehalt nicht anmerkt. Trotzdem sehr süß mit langem Abgang. Am Gaumen holzig, Karamell und Schokolade. Nicht mein Favorit dieser Serie aber ganz OK.

The taste is powerful due to the alcohol strength of 55%, but when this settles, the taste is actually elegant with sweet notes of fruits, orange and English caramel.

Sehr viel Süße, Rosinen, Saftorangen, Gewürznelke, Nussmix, Zartbitterschoki. Selbst diese herbe Kräuternote, die hier mitschwingt, ist süß. Kräuterbonbons könnt man sagen. Kraftvoll steht ihm der Alkohol und ist wunderbar eingebunden. Extrem süffig, muss man aufpassen, macht dann auch schnell düdelig. Bei Rum stell ich mir genau sowas vor, man muss aber auch auf aufgezuckerten Rumgenuß stehn, sonst 2 much. Bei gutem Preis, werd ich wohl von dem was einlagern müssen.

This one is actually quite enjoyable. You get the typical riise flavour but with well incorporated alcohol of 55% strength. I bought a bottle of this and along with 3 others, it is my favorite from the portfolio.

Chuťově rukopis AH , tento vzorek je je středně silný a intenzivní , ale ne nepříjemně , není znát vyšší obsah alkoholu, prosakuje sladkost a kořeněnost.. dlouhý a sladký závěr s alkolickym ocasem. Kořeněná chuť karamel a čokoláda na patře. Ale na běžné pití dobrý rum 🙂

Tja eigentlich hätte ich es vorher wissen müssen aber nungut wiedermal ein Zuckerwasser aus dem Hause Riise Fangen wir bei der unnormal dunklen Farbe an, Zuckerkuleur lässt grüßen. In der Nase Karamell, Schokolade, Orange und Alkohol. Im Mund dann ein aufgespritteter Likör. Sehr süß bei hohem Alkohol. Karamell, Schokolade, Orange fast wie ein Weihnachtsgebäck. Abgang mittel, Honig, Schokolade und vor allem Süße. Man hat das Gefühl der Zucker legt sich wie ein Belag auf die Zähne. Zum Backen, Eis essen oder süss flambieren geeignet, zum trinken weniger, zumindest wenn man Rum trinken will.

Caramel, orange and peach in the nose. Candied orange peel and lemonade in the taste. It seems a bit more spicy than the regular Danish Navy, although that might just be the higher alcohol. A light nuttiness to it in the finish. The best one of the Danish Navy range, but I'd wish it would be less sweet.

Ganz schön süß. Trotz der 55 % eher abschreckend. Das Geschmacksprofil an sich ist eigentlich gar nicht so verkehrt. Ich mag holzige und karamellige Rums schon, aber der ganze Zucker macht es kaputt.

Bohatá vůně s lékořicí, mátou, pomerančovou kůrou, kokosem, papájou a eukalyptem. Nádech balzamikové redukce, černého čaje a spáleeného karamelu. Barva rumu je temně mahagonová.

Compared to the "normal" Riise a bit more facets, which probably comes from the higher alcohol content. A little more power suits the Riise well and makes it a little more pleasing than the 40%. For me, nevertheless, simply much much too sweet. Nevertheless, a drinkable rum that is certainly very tasty for sweet rum lovers.

Bernsteinfarbenr Spirit Drink. Geruch nach Karamell und Gewürzen, leicht Alkoholisch. Im Geschmack auch der Karamell im Vordergrund. Dazu wieder jede Menge Zucker. Bei der Menge wohl mein persönlicher Tiefpunkt. Immerhin etwas besser als der Danish Navy 40%
