Overripe strawberry, mango and a thick wall of fruity esters, with polish, toffee and a touch of wood underneath — this Savanna reads so tropical and funky that several tasters said they'd have guessed a young Jamaican from Long Pond or Hampden blind. It opens up given time in the glass, revealing spice, licorice and a faint smoke on the finish. Big, oily, and pinned together by 60.4% heat.

WOW! i wouldn't have expected that. from the taste and smell, you could guess it was a young Jamaican from Long Pond or new Yarmouth/Hampden. Fat. A brutal amount of tropical fruits and esters and caramel, plus some pastry, polish, salty and sweet at the same time, elderflower syrup, nice woody note, almost sandalwood. in the finish, Savanna then opens up again with the typical fermented, overripe strawberry. very cool, I want more of it!

Ohh this is exactly my thing. Wonderfully fruity... Strawberries, papaya, pineapple, banana and a good load of esters ... Risk of confusion with high ester Jamaicaner quite possible 😅😅.... It almost explodes on the palate ... first oily warm and a little sweet...then it fills the mouth with tropical fruits and esters, here also a little floral (which is hardly present in the nose).... minimal wood and bitter in the finish. Strong performance 👍🏻

I got this bottle on Friday and sitting here enjoying it on a Sunday :-) I have tried a few Savanna grand arômes and I mostly like them. This one however is really good. The glass needs to rest in order for all the flavours to be released. I got most flavours after 30 minutes where it really gets fruity and you can pick up on the wood. I like the spicy touch well balanced with the spices, varnish and some licorice. A great rum and the price to quality is very good.

The first two Chai Humide bottlings with 8 and 10 years are not for nothing among the best that can be found under Savanna in the RumX database. Formidable interplay of powerful fruit esters, heavy wood and toffee sweetness, plus the classic for me for Savanna Grand Arômes mint with overripe strawberries with some olive and gallant wood influence - a renewed testimony to what can arise in eight years of tropical storage for fantastic rums.

Die Flasche ist noch zu über 2/3 voll und ich habe gerade darüber nachgedacht sie gegen einen TDL einzutauschen. Sicherheitshalber vorher nochmals verkostet und leider schmeckt er mir heute doch zu gut. Gegenüber der letzten Verkostung muss ich paar Zehntel dazugeben. Der HERR Einfluss ist HERRlich! Und die über 60% stehen ihm gut.

What a Grand Arome! The nose is still restrained but on the palate the character of the distillery is fully there, surrounded by many finer nuances. Unfortunately no longer available.

WOW… was für ein Savanna! Das hätte ich blind nie vermutet… Ester und tropische Frucht bis zum Abwinken… Okay ein bisschen Erdbeere ist auch dabei … Ist für mich nicht klassisch , passt aber in mein Beuteschema!!
