After resting this one for 15 plus minutes I have to say it came out pretty well. The nose is a clear Agricole with a fruity vegetal/earthy note, maybe even some wet hay. On top i get a floral and woody tingle. The palate is also an Agricole from the start. A spicy dry start going into orange zest and cocoa drizzled with marzipan. The finish is long and slightly bitter/dry, in a good way, with spices and citrus/lemon at the end.

Bought me this bottle on my way down to Spain. It’s aged for at least 3 years in oak casks. Overall a quite intense Agricole that’s quite demanding with flavors of fruits, spices and oak from the barrels.

An aged rum of very high quality for its age. The nose is full-bodied, with orange and dried fruit, swirling spices, mellow oak, toasted bread and hints of greenery. The palate is very spicy, with cloves, pepper and vanilla, with hints of cocoa on melted, lightly toasted oak. Fruitiness blends with agricultural bitterness for a very homogeneous, well-constructed whole. The long, round finish offers a fine balance of sweet spices, exotic fruit, citrus, sugarcane and hints of greenery. A tasty, aromatic little nugget, available at an unbeatable price.

Starts out very delicate in the nose. Honey. Light. Chamomille (tea). Light fruit: peaches. Oranges. A hint of oak. Tasty: nice. More yellow fruits. Abricot. Peach. Orange. A little bitterness. Wood more prominent. Could do with a bit more alcohol%. Still delicate. Easy sipper. Nothing outstanding but again pretty good. The fruitiness especially a appealling.

The Beachcomber London: Good rum cocktails and agricole rum twists on modern cocktails. Picked this rum from backshelve for the review. Not really highend agricole rums in there, but good range on basic aricole rums. I think this is my review number 200, thanks for the likes so far! On the nose: Light notes on the nose in general. Light woody notes. Light vegetal and floral notes. Taste: Peppery, woody and dry at first. Sugarcane notes. Then you get sweeter notes like marzipan, cocoa and vanilla in the end. Light notes in general. Finish: Dry, light vegetal notes, light nutmeg and spice notes. Peppery notes in the background. Basic agricole rum that suffers from lack of abv.

L'entrée de gamme de chez Depaz. Sans grande surprise. C'est bon mais pas exceptionnel. Et je trouve que le rapport qualité prix est moins bon que celui de leur vsop. Ca reste intéressant pour cette gamme de prix.

It's impossible to discuss this rum without mentioning the price. It's a real bomb at 29€. Well, okay, I paid 38€ because I support my local shopkeeper, but oh well. My first Depaz and my expectations were high despite the young age of this rum (and by the way it's 3 years old not 4 as the app says here). Fortunately those expectations are all fulfilled because at this price I highly recommend this rum. It makes a really great old ti-punch and for the first time I can taste the real difference between red and blue cane. No doubt the blue is the gentleman in comparison with the red and I'll probably stock both Dillon and Depaz dorenavant because they both have their place. The red is a bit more rock/punk and the blue a bit more jazz/pop. But as kids I love them exactly the same 😂.

"As a mixer this works nicely in an old fashioned and in a Mai Tai. In a Ti Punch it works very well. It's not at all grassy like some younger white agricoles but the extra ABV to 45% really works in its favour. Helping the spicy notes from the..."Read full review →
