Dégustation de quelques Caronis de chez Bristol. Fin d’une bouteille, une excellente chose pour apprécier un Caroni. Le verre embaume la pièce avant même de mettre le nez dessus. Un nez fort et doux à la fois avec de l’orange amère, du chocolat noir et un parfum de vin rouge et bien sûr les parfums typiques de la distillerie. Une attaque vive mais aussitôt après débarquent les fruits et les arômes d’atelier mécanique. Une finale longue et savoureuse où revient l’orange amère et le chocolat. Un rhum dur et fermé à l’ouverture de la bouteille, mais savoureux avec de l’oxydation et même encore meilleur avec beaucoup d’oxydation et magnifique en fin de bouteille. Un des meilleurs de la dégustation.

Probiert als 5cl Sample. Wieder ähnlich dessen was ich zu Caroni bisher so gelesen habe. Geruchlich Teer, Gummi, Rosine, Trockenfrüchte und ne Spur Orange. Geschmacklich ebenfalls etwas dreckig, Teer, Gummi, modrig, Getrocknete Früchte und feuchtes Holz. Rauchrig, rüstig im Abgang und eine ölige Konsistenz. Gefällt mir ziemlich gut, jedoch nicht so sehr wie der Cadenheads/The Nectar. Den aktuellen Preis von 300€/0,7l finde ich jedoch nicht gerechtfertigt. Der kommt vermutlich nur daher weil Caroni drauf steht.

A slightly older tasting. A very nice Caroni where you have the traditional rubber and tar notes as well as some fruit and chocolate. Really nice balance between the flavours and also pretty good ABV integration. Pretty good price at release and the empty glass was really nice.

A really great Caroni! Classic Caroni notes with a light red wine character. Of the weaknesses of the 1997 batch is here absolutely nothing to notice.A serious alternative to the black bottles. Meanwhile, however, already difficult to get. This rum is my recommendation next to the 17 and 21 Extra Strong to dive into the Caroni world.

Sehr guter 1997er Caroni... ausgewogen und gut trinkbar Alkohol top eingebunden. Schöne Balance zwischen Frucht,Schokolade und den typischen dreckigen Notes (Teer,Gummi etc) Im Abgang schmeckt es etwas nach Karamell dunklen Früchten.

Beautiful Caroni from Bristol. Typical, great nose, where you can recognize rubber, tar and leather. The palate also has rubber and tar, but there is also a nice fruitiness (dried fruit) and some wood. Very successful.

Ein Tasting mit vier 1997er Caronis, die alle den typischen dreckigen Caroni Stil sehr inzensiv in sich haben. Der Alkohol ist bei allen sehr gut eingepflegt. Der Bristol fällt etwas ab, da am Gaumen eher verhalten und im Abgang relativ kurz. Zudem schlichter als die anderen. Der V&M ist sehr fruchtig dreckig und wirkt gaumenschmeichelnd, fast schon elegant im Vergleich zu den anderen. Trotzdem sehr dreckig, da ist wohl jemand auf dem Weg zum Abschlussball mit seinem Sakko in eine tiefe Ölpfütze getreten. Der Rum Cask ist am Gaumen eine andere Liga, als die zuvor genannten, voluminös und voller Power, beginnend mit einem rotfruchtigem etwas sauren Anflug von Aromen. Der Abgang ist wie bei den anderen beiden mittellang bis lang. Das Beste zum Schluss. Der Berry Bros ist hier eindeutig mein Favorit. Voluminös, sehr komplex, dreckig und extrem fruchtig zugleich mit einem ewig langem Abgang! Für mich der beste 1997er, den ich bislang im Glas hatte. Geiles Teil!

Super complex Caroni that is really fun in a glass! Rubber, tar, wood, smoke, tobacco and leather accompany you from nose to finish. The sweet/fruity aspects are provided by dried fruit and caramel. First-class alcohol!

Sehr ausbalancierter Caroni. Relativ fruchtig für den Jahrgang, geht für mich eher in Richtung 98er. Schöne Nase, stimmiger Mund und guter Abgang. Der Alkohol ist gut integriert. Nicht sehr viele Kanten aber sehr zugänglich. Ich mag die älter Abfüllung von Bristol aber noch einwenig besser.

Bristol Caroni Vergleich: Deutlich besser als seine reduzierten Brüder, eher fruchtig als dreckig. Alkohol leider nicht so gut integriert, favorisiere klar den RX1057. Dennoch guter Bristol Release tum meider nicht so guten Kurs

Der Alkohol ist gut integriert. Eine gute Balance aus Süße, fruchtigen Noten und dreckigen Noten. Dazu noch etwas dunkle Schokolade. Eine schöne 1997er Abfüllung von Bristol mit recht langen Abgang.

Ein sehr runder und weicher Caroni aber mit den typisch dreckigen Noten von Ichtholan-Zugsalbe also Ammoniumbitunimosulfonat 😊😜. ABV wirklich sehr gut integriert. Einzig es fehlt ihm etwas an Intensität und Komplexität um in die 9,0 Riege aufzusteigen.

I like the Bristol Caronis that didn’t suffer from a reduction and this one is no exception. Nose and taste are right where I like them to be, with dirt, rubber and tar. In addition there’s a slight chocolate note. Lovely stuff 🥰

Verkostet gegen den Berry Bros & Rudd 1997 … für mich liegt der Bristol vorne, wobei er eher am Gaumen und der Berry Bros eher an der Nase überzeugt. Beide empfinde ich als eher unterdurchschnittliche Caronis und im erschwinglichen 97er Segment würde ich das SBS Set beiden klar vorziehen. Schmecken tut er natürlich trotzdem und schließlich mag ich Caroni Marker und die sind klar da.

A good Caroni where all the typical notes shine through, along with a touch of fruit and chocolate. But they don't fully come to the fore as a wow factor, which is the only thing I felt was a bit lacking. It also has a long finish, and the alcohol is well-integrated. All with all a nice Caroni.

die typischen, dreckigen Caroni-Marker sind deutlich vorhanden, aber was mir hier besonders gefällt, sind die Noten von dunkler Schokolade, sowohl an der Nase als auch am Gaumen.

Hier wurde der Fehler Caronis auf 40% zu verwässern (Bristol VSOC und 1998) behoben und das wird extrem belohnt. So richtig intensiv dreckig als würde man eine geteerte Zigarre zerkauen, so wie ich mir einen Caroni vorgestellt habe. Nicht nur die Nase ist hier einladend auch der Geschmack ist geradezu hypnotisierend intensiv. Kleines Manko: Mir als Nichtraucher gehen hier die Fruchtaromen etwas ab.

Auch dieser 1997er Caroni von Bristol ist eine tolle Abfüllung. Im Vergleich zum 20jährigen ist dieser nicht rauchig, hat dafür aber eine tolle Orangennote. Hätte ich die vorher probiert, hätte ich weniger gesplittet 😉

Ich liebe die Bristol Caronis. Der 2015 war mein erster und ich genieße heute Abend meine letzten cl. Habe mittlerweile 2016, 2017 und 2019 auf Lager. P/L waren die Teile einfach Top. Ich persönlich finde die kontinentale Lagerung für das Caroni Arome sehr gut. Ich nenne es die Aschenbecher Aromen 😅 ... love it. Habe ich beim tropischen Velier so nicht gefunden. Leider geil. Zum Glück auf Vorrat gekauft.

... Caroni je destilerie z Trinidadu, produkujici v dobe sve nejvetsi slavy rum, ktery se pridaval v pomeru 1:10 do namornickeho blendu. Byl totiz moc vyrazny a divny nez aby byl prijemny na jazyku. V roce 2000 destilerka skoncila s produkci a byla uzavrena. Az v roce 2010 se objevili degustatori, kteri si rum oblibili prave pro jeho specialni chut. A zajem rostl. Caroni patri do kategorie rumu "you need to try before you die". Doporucuji, Caroni je opravdu unikatni rum.

Read full review →From what I understand John was one of the first people (before Luca Gargano, I have read) to get his hands on stocks of Caroni. He certainly got a winner with this 1997 vintage. If you like your Caroni the I can't recommend this enough. A classic from Bristol Classic.
