William Hinton 3 Years

One taster called it "surprisingly good for a three year," expecting a mixer and finding toffee, oak and vanilla instead. This young Madeira agricole, made from cane juice, leans woody with lemon, dried fruit and a grassy cane edge. Simple and direct — most find the barrel a bit dominant and short on depth, but it's an honest, easy entry into the agricole style.

The community says
  • Grassy cane notes
  • But: Barrel dominates
  • But: Lacks depth

Teleurstellend, heel direct zonder diepgang of smaakevolutie.

42 points. I received this as a freebie with some samples. Nothing much stands out, some wood, caramel and vanilla in the nose. Tropical fruit and alcoholic on the palate. Not my cup of tea or should I say glass of rum 😂

The distillery uses their own sugar cane for the production and use sugar cane juice, so it’s an Agricole. In the near future (May 2021) it’s just Madeira, besides the French Overseas Departments, that could call their rum for Agricole if sold inside the EU. It’s distilled in a column still and then aged for three years in French oak barrels. The finish is rather long and tastes the same as on the palate.

Another sampler at the mall and again not a sipper for me. My guess is a mixer or punch for this one.

Artificial, chemical taste and aftertaste. Nose is slightly better than the taste. Slight spice.

Surprisingly good for a three year which was expecting to be a mixing rhum. Toffee oak and vanilla are the overwhelming notes on the tongue, enjoyable nose, when mixed the Agricole notes really come to life with more vegetal aspects and a clean finish

Aged rum

Avg Rating 8.0/10 over 16,000 Rums

Aged rum is where the spirit earns its complexity. In a tropical warehouse a barrel loses 6 to 10 percent of its contents to evaporation every year, which is why an 8-year Caribbean rum can taste deeper than a 20-year Scotch. This page gathers every rum on RumX that has spent real time in wood, with community ratings to separate the genuinely mature from the merely dark.
