Very delicious balanced elegant rum from MM Jamaica 🤤🤤 Classic fruity nose paired with some esters, baking spices, yellow fruits and wood. In mouth the adventure continues with various fruits paired with fresh mint, roasted and notes of the barrel with some hints of ester and some hidden notes of licorice. The alcohol is integrated very well. The finish is medium long and dry. A mix of fruits and the barrel.

This is yet another of the rare rums from the closed Ekte bottling company. A unique cask bottled in Denmark. The nose is fruity with sweet chilli and some pepper. There is something roast in there as well and saltiness. The palate is well balanced and complex and fruity as well as spicy (pepper). There is a bit of wood after resting for a while. The finish is longand spicy with a bit of wood and pineapple.

Today I have a rum in my glass that probably very few of you know, let alone have ever tasted. The bottler has not been around for a few years now and has never really become known beyond Denmark. Thank you, Nivius, for the sample, so my bottle can remain closed. But I have to say, I don't regret buying the bottle (130 EUR for 0.5 liters, a store keeper at Rum & Co.). Although this rum is just as 19 years old and distilled in the same rare year 1997 as another Clarendon from Ekte (RX14530), it is far better than the latter. Here, soft, oily, yellow sweetness nestled against peppery aniseed dances a love waltz. I am thrilled! It's a shame that this rum has more or less disappeared even on the secondary market, because it's worth it. Oh well, although, as I said, it's from 1997, which caused a general sensation at Clarendon last year, this rum has nothing, absolutely nothing to do with the other '97 Monymusks, e.g. the one from Fine Drams. Is this due to the continental maturation?

One of my first single casks, tasted at the fair and only made rudimentary notes. Now I have finally been able to taste a sample. Thanks, Tobias! The nose is 100% continental maturity and reminds a bit of uncolored Guyana pot stills with anise, wet wood and stone fruit. Rather buttery, sour esters and a vegetal side between peppers and gooseberries.Much more Jamaican in the mouth: fruity esters with peach present. The wet wood of the nose remainsIn the long finish it becomes super creamy and the esters bring nose and mouth together, complemented by the green smokiness of curry leaves. This somehow reads more complex than it tastes, but especially in the mouth it quickly runs out of facets. A good rum, but the bottle for just under 170€ I do not buy.

This is a really exceptional rum that has nothing of what I know from the 97 EMB Clarendons. Instead of this strong spicy note, this one is absolutely soft, delicate and complex and the nose does not prepare you at all for the taste explosion of flowery floral - almost perfumed flavors. This fruitiness/floweriness reminds me strongly of grappa/muscatel However, instead of hitting the palate immediately, the flavor disappears briefly, only to return with full force in a simultaneously subtle way, leaving notes of aniseed, salmiak and gooseberry on the tongue. It really is an experience in the glass that I have never experienced before with rum. Anyone looking for a Clarendon that resembles the fine drams will probably be disappointed here. But if you are open to what the rum world has to offer apart from the absolutely dirty stuff, you will have a lot of fun with this one. You don't notice the 53.6% at all, it's as smooth as decalcified water.
