Normally I don't sip white rums, but once in a while I'm offered one at my supplier and it usually tends to surprise me. This one is yet another of these nice whites that you didn't expect and probably would just walk by unless someone give s you a sample. A very nice surprise with an well balanced fruit and spice nose with a tad of wax. The palate is light and fruity with a bit of nuttiness to it. The finish is a bit short, unfortunately, which might have been extended with a bit more proof. Nonetheless a very good white sipper in my mind and something I recommend you try.

I tried it today at the distillery at Chamarel after a short tour. The distillery has a seasonal break now and will resume operation during the sugar cane harvest around August. The sugar cane is grown by the distillery, they use both green and red types. Distillery owns a column and a pot still. Tasting started with their double distilled unaged rum, which was quite pleasant and not that sharp. Very fruity with caramel aftertast. Can imagine sipping it but also should work very well as a mixer.

Ein kräftiger Geruch nach Zuckerrohr, fruchtig, etwas alkoholisch. Im Geschmack etwas Zuckerrohr, leichte Süße, etwas alkoholische Schärfe.

Tasted out of the fridge... Very flat nose, but pear surprisingly present. Spicy. Pears. Cane in the mouth. Not bad. Not crazy. 2nd tasting: The tasting conditions don't change my opinion of this rum.
