The surprise here is restraint — for a 23-year Versailles pot still, this one whispers rather than shouts. Coffee, dark chocolate and prunes lead the palate, with orange peel and tea on the nose, all wrapped in soft old-Demerara wood. Several tasters loved the profile but wished it pushed harder; one summed it up as "fades very fast." A gentle, elegant sipper more than a heavy hitter.

Nice Versailles but fades very fast

14.04.2012 First visit to the Whisky.dk event after returning to Denmark after first living 3 years in Upplands Väsby, Sweden and then 7 years in Shanghai, China. Got back together with old friends to have a nice weekend. Notes. Dark in colour. Nose: wood, roasted, orange, cherry, licorice. Palate: balanced, light, cherry, coffee, berries. Finish:medium long, wood, coffee, dried fruit, herbs.
